Nascar skins?

Can't really say that I know anything about Nascar racing except they're going hugely fast in circles. That must be a pain on tyres (setups)
teaz-R, I'd say you were correct based on the assumption that after 5 laps a caution comes out and half the field pits for tires and then whips everyone who didn't come in on occasion.

Nascar needs to be understood to realize what it would take. It is not just running around in circles, nor is it just running around in circles insanely fast (but that would definitely be the adrenaline rush ). It appears that the corners look easy, but they have to have their lines perfect. Just the tiniest slip of their braking or handling of the racing line can put them back several spots. The cars are regulated so much to be as equal as possible, yet be different that it is then very difficult to gain your spots back that you lost.

The traffic is very detrimental on the cars as well. Just watch when someone is battling in traffic. They fight back and forth lap after lap. Then upon pitstops, those two cars come out first and second. They couldn't gain into the top 5 to save their life, but suddenly, one is in first and just pulls away from the pack like they were all standing still.

Nascar is very much a strategy game with the amount of miles they run. The decision to change right side tires as opposed to all 4 can be the difference between winning and not placing in the top 10.

Then there's restrictor plate racing at Daytona and Talladega. In my opinion, that isn't racing at all, but quite interesting to see 43 cars driving almost 200 mph for 500 miles bumper to bumper and side by side. It is not uncommon to see 43rd place finish within 2.5 seconds of 1st place. From the TV camera, it doesn't look like much, but when they show the incar cam, you can see they can't even keep the car going in a two car width lane. They are all over the place 2 and 3 wide bumper to bumper at 195 mph. Don't think that takes skill? That is quite incredible I think.

@ the Nascar flamers - Yup, I'm a big Nascar fan. If you don't like it or think it's boring, then my hats off to you, that's your opinion. To me, watching F1 just running around like a train with no passing or racing is boring. The car does all the work IMO. But I don't watch F1 or know anything about it, so I won't go spouting off how F1 sucks or takes no skill like I see here. I don't talk out my A** about it not knowing anything about it. Perhaps some other folk should do the same.
lol, ya gotta love grandstand racers eh...

Quote :what possible athletic ability does it take to drive?

Your post lost all creditability with me from this point forth. Truely ignorant.

Anyway, back to the point of this thread, Nascar skins...

I do have one that i have no idea how it ended up on my computer as i've had it since the demo... but here ya go.

athletic ability???? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!

remember a few years ago when tony stewart nearly died of dehydration??? and to say it takes no ability at all your effing wrong

if you think it takes nothing, go drive around for half an hour down a highway and see how that feels .. during rush hour, then multiply that by about 5 because nascar races last over 1 hour ass...

you dont know anything if you think it takes no skill to do anything like that
You really have no clue do you, "Vancouver_Canuck?"

Quote from Vancouver_Canuck :There is no comparison. The driver skill level doesn't even come close with Nascar. Mistakes certainly don't cost you more in Nascar. Consistancy is way way way more important in F1.

Yes, F1 drivers need to posses more skill than NASCAR drivers. The does not mean that NASCAR drivers do not posses any skill. You seem to think there is no gradient of skill. It's not just 'these guys are the best, so the rest have no talent.' Consitancy is important in all forms of motorsports, but it is most important in higher levels of Drag Racing. Yes, that's right, drag racing. In F1, you have much much more time to makeup for a split-second twitch. In Drag racing, if you make a mistake you'd damn well better hope your oppenent's engine blows or you've lost the race, plain and simple. Consitancy is key, in ALL forms of motorsport.

Quote :"hit the corners perfect, because small errors lead to 10th's or 100th's off laptime which obviously mean alot more in oval racing."
It's actually the exact opposite.

Actually, it is easier to make up time on a road course, than on an oval. Therefore, errors are more costly in an oval race. Granted, the races are indeed longer, so there is more opporunity to make up your mistakes. It evens out.

Quote :"car setup is more important in oval racing and also a HELL of a lot more advanced then road course racing"
Not even close.

Actually, most road course series have less setup options than a typical oval series. More options means more variables to account for in your setup, which means more opportunity for gains (and losses) from the setup. Agreed, F1 it is more important, but arguably moreso becuase of fewer races, and faster cars. A bad setup means you are further behind your competator, but you don't loose as many positions as the teams in F1 are so spaced in overall speed. Also, one screwed up race costs you more in F1, than in NASCAR because of the number of races. That has nothing to do with skill, though, that is just how the series' are laid out.

Quote :"There's also drivers in nascar who shouldn't be racing in it right now, but.. thats what money gets you."
There aren't any drivers in F1 that 'shouldn't be racing' and F1 has way more money.

I disagree. Several drivers in F1 simply cannot cut it. As much as it pains me to say this about a fellow Canadian, Villeneuve should not be in F1. Speed should not be in F1. Remember earlier in the year when the Japanese driver for Super Aguri lost his F1 license? He DEFINATELY should not have been in F1, and he was only there because Super Aguri wanted an all-Japanese team.

I really do hate to see a fellow canuck be so blatantly ignorant. I hold my country and it's people in high esteem, and posts like yours remind me that every country, no matter how good or bad, has its ignorant peoples too. Actually, this comes as especially suprising from someone being from the west coast, I had thought for the most part, the west coast was more open minded than the east coast citizens.

MAGGOT
There some nascar style skins for the UF1 around somewhere too (sorry, can't give a link as I don't remember where I saw them)

I enjoy corners as much as the next bloke/lass, as do I enjoy straight line speed too.
As a member of the world I'm entitled to like what I want, and I like pretty much everything MOTORSPORT.

Rant OVER! <- This little green dude says it is. RESPECT the green dude.

Two more things...

I still watch F1 today, but I feel that with all the technology we have these days, a little more overtaking is in order... however shumacher did have a good go at raikkonen at silverstone...

Also, I've just seen disney's Pixar's 'CARS'

IT's absolutely FANTASTIC for any car lover! Haven't seen a film like it since the new Dukes of Hazzard, or the original Blues Brothers!

Really impressed!
I think the person who made the topic asked for NASCAR skins... Not if NASCAR is awesome or not...

Vancouver_Canuck, Learn a little about what your talking about before you talk about it. It really save's yourself from looking foolish. I would love to see any F1 driver run the 600 mile race at Charlotte, or the 500 mile race at bristol, then after the race say that it was easy, it wont happen.

As for the skin's, I have several nascar skin's for a few diffrent car's. The pic being the newest one

MCPOLICE used to have a website with a bunch of diffrent nascar skins (every driver IIRC, but only uf1) but im not sure if the site is still around. You can find him online though, for those intrested.

edit: I took the little one to see that cars movie this past saturday.. indeed it was a hoot!

When i was at the USGP they interviewed jeff gordon who said he wished he woulda started to drive F1 cars because he loves them. He says that it definitely is the top of all motorsports as it takes an extreme amount of skill and development. But he did say some good things about Nascar (of course). Both motorsports have their ups and downs. Ive noticed canuck not even replying after everyone put his ass in place.. ahh so great . Anyways, thanks for the daytona USA skin.. love it!
