I have loads of replays from S1A of me and some mates drifting for hours, I was wondering if there is any way to convert them to S2 for the nicer graphics. I'm assuming there is issues with the different physics but it can't hurt to ask.

The guy I did it with has since died and wanted to make some nice screen shots of all 6 of us door to door drifting, I will settle for the older graphics if there is no way to do it though.

You can't play replays created in different versions of LFS that had different physics. So, you couldn't play a replay from S1A with S2 Z28. If you download the version that the replays were created in you may not be able to view them because of a change in the unlock procedure that occurred some time ago (the master server moved to a new IP address which old versions don't know about).

Viewing S1 replay (as a 'demo' user) shouldn't need an unlock for any version of LFS afaik.

It depends on the contents of the replay, though. If he's viewing licensed content (from S1A) then he'll need to unlock it. Since he can't legally/officially unlock S1A unless he already has an unlocked installation or he wants to unlock it unofficially (which shouldn't be discussed here) he's gonna run into problems.

Older versions of LFS would allow you to play S1 replays when you only had Demo content. It was a well known thing back then to test-drive cars by DLing a hotlap, then esc -> test drive to try out S1 cars without a licence.

Well, if that's the case then I stand corrected.

I think it might have even stayed into some S2 versions even. I'm not completely sure when Scawen fixed it though.

Yeah I can play the replays in S1 but would be nice to tweak the graphics a little.
