thats why i dont trust anything im told by tv... tv lied to me and ill never forgive it :P
Don't believe what they say on Top Gear as gospel. I don't think it's possible to learn anything about cars (other than perhaps a few comedy niggles or a particularly impressive (but meaningless) stat) from watching Top Gear. Better of buying an old AA Book of the Car if you want to learn something useful.

My worst nightmares have come true. I'm doing a turbocharger conversion on a FWD car here at work (Toyota Sera with a Starlet Turbo engine). He's got a bigger intercooler (and he actually thinks it'll make the car quicker), he's got a stupid air filter (which he actually believes will make the car quicker), and he's got underbody neons (which he actually believes will make his penis longer).

I despise it. I phone him yesterday telling his intercooler was too big, and I rate him at 7 on the Wally Scale.

Why oh why are people like him allowed to leave the maternity ward???
Thx tris, brought tears to my eyes, this post!
HAHAHAHAHA Tristan

I can't stand neons. Oh the amount of destruction Fast and the Furious / NFS Underground has brought upon the automotive industry :arge:

What you should do is put his fully sick 900x600x400mm interheater ontop of his engine and have no bonnet scoop. Then take his air filter and bend up some alloy piping so that filter sits right next to the turbo. Then to top it all off, put a T51 turbo on it, run that at 3psi and put 7 blow off valves along the intercooler piping.

Sweet
The Starlet normally has a top mounted intercooler, designed by engineers to work well with the engine at road speeds and loads. But this guy has decided that a front mounted intercooler is the way to go (and it's full width so it looks better - he honestly said he'd chosen it for looks). We've removed the aircon condensor (it didn't work anyway) to make room, and we're having to route the pipes round the crash structures (some people actually cut away material from the carefully designed crash structures). This means so much lag that it'll take a month to get the power to the wheels.

But it also means that he doesn't have quite enough room for the standard radiator. He's bought a Civic rad which is half the width and wants us to fit that, behind the intercooler. So we're gonna hot air from the intercooler going into the water radiator that's half the size of the standard rad. I think on a hot day at full boost the engines going to melt. But that's what he wants, and the customer is always right. He may be (may?) stupid, misinformed or a total moron, but they're always right.

And we're having to araldite the dump valve housing back on cos it was broken on the engine he supplied. I can't be bothered to try and plasti-weld it

All of this because welding a bonnet scoop and painting it is 'too expensive'!!!
I have to agree with Tristan about NA vs FI.

Take for instance the Pagani Zonda. Performance-wise, the most spectacular thing about it is the instant throttle response because it is naturally aspirated. Now, the only reason it has not been brought to North America yet is because to get it emissions legal it would have to be detuned and modified. Of course, this will make it loose power, and then those of us in North America will have a car that is not as good as the European version. Currently, the only way to solve this would be to add some form of FI setup. BUT, giving it some sort of FI will compromise the instant throttle response, and thus, the Pagani Zonda loses one of the things that make it so special. Horacio refuses to give the Zonda an FI setup for precisely this reason.

Point being - in an NA engine, you get instant response, whereas in FI setups you get lag. AFAIK, the Zonda is the only modern supercar that is naturally aspirated aswell.
Supercharging it would help there, as the lag is very little. But supercharging is best for lazier, torquey engines and has far less effect at high revs due to inefficiencies. And as supercars should be rev-mental freaks of engineering a supercharger wouldn't work.

I'm with Pagini on this - NA is the ONLY way for the Zonda to remain the class act it is (but I'm still not taken on the looks completely, but that's just taste).

They do it's true. That's why geeks put lights in their PC's.

Which would be the case anyway, the gnats piss that you call "gas" is shite next to what we fill our cars with.

Another by-product of our emissions laws
wow bad ass i'll have DL this
that's the same BOV i've been using since S1.. way back in the day.
i used to use this ages ago when i first downloaded S2. at first it was like 'wow'.
Then it just got REALLY repeatative and really annoying and the looping is shocking.
I must say, that THIS is the Sound you MUST have if you like BOV's sounds...
I am even thinking of replacing the original BOV sound....
how I install this please?
Quote from coast :how I install this please?

put it in (ZZZ)/data/snd

ZZZ is dir of LFS
Goooood! very Good
the clips so short lol, but it sounds cool, get the file uploaded >.<
yeah no shit.. not bad! where is the file??
verry nice!!
i would sure us it!
well done
dont bother even posting a sample if there is no bov, this is downloads section !!

Try converting it to raw format format before you start digging your own grave.

MARQUISE - do you have the raw format file available? I don't have a decent enough converter.
Cheers for that, i'll give it a go tomorrow.

Out of curiosity, what converter do you use? I used Blaze Media Pro but for some reason, when it saves the audio file it like triples the output level and any sound just distorts . I haven't had a good fiddle with all the options/settings but surely there's gotta be something a bit better out there.
Just a suggestion: Get a new keyboard mate, your capslock key is broken
WavePad
I Use Wavepad Audio. that dumpvalve sounds great
Waaahaaayy! I love BOV threads!
