Quote from logitekg25 :not for me, it just seems like random letters attached to random numbers

Not exactly, but they are difficult to remember, the IS300 and 400 are the same car just a different engine. And also it's the Toyota Altezza, I don't know any of the other Lexus models really I do find that they are random numbers and letters until you know what those letters and numbers stand for you don't know any the wiser. Peugeot numbers are silly too, just say a Peugeot number to someone and it takes them more than 10 seconds to think of the right one and thats before clarifying that it IS the one you have mentioned.
Burnout

love the sound of a rotor
makes me all warm and fuzzy
How impressive on the burnout. Wow, wish I could have impressed people with my cars like that.... oh, yeah, I could do that in my 97 hp pickup truck, or my FWD 70 hp 1985 Ford Escort econobox..... Heck, I could do that in my old 1983 Ford Escort 3 speed automatic.
we do it for fun.
What exactly is the fun in ruining your rear brakes and tyres for a puff of smoke, some annoying noise and a bit of eyeliner on the road?

Don't mean to provoke an argument, that's just really all a burnout is in my eyes, except for the "legitimate" (line locked fronts) pre-heater on the dragstrip
who knows, why do people get enjoyment out of anything?
I've got nothing against anyone doing it, but it's something I've never done in my current (and first RWD) car. It just pains me to think of all the unnecessary load and wear on everything.
I know it's not a rational analogy, but to me it makes as much sense as slapping a pet dog or something that you'd otherwise care very much for, for no real reason.
My brother got an awesome 200SX that had been cared for, and it was his first RWD car too, and he did shit like this all the time if there were any mates in view, and a year down the line it was starting to show the wear.

Not moaning, or holier-than-thou'ing, just don't see the appeal. But then, there's probably lots of things I enjoy that others wouldn't see the appeal in, and they have no right to interfere, so each to their own
Quote from EeekiE : It just pains me to think of all the unnecessary load and wear on everything.

Track days would put alot more load and wear on the brakes, engine, and suspension than a 20 second burnout.

But the enjoyment/cost ratio is significantly better IMO.

I'm not denying that a burnout might be enjoyable, but if I'm going to ruin my tyres I just find it much more enjoyable to do it in motion.
Stopped for a quick photoshoot with a mate while cruising, propably the last pics I take until next spring.

The 4wd system surprised me a bit today. I was entering on to a motorway and after the apex I floored the throttle and found myself quite sideways, kept the throttle slammed and applied a bit of opposite lock and exited the corner with a 0-countersteer slide as the car applied torque up front. Felt good, very good.
yeah, gtr's powerslide awesomely
Bah, my FWD jetta slides nicer!

Now my dad's new (as in he just bought it.. for $500) old (1992) 318i.. I learnt that is fun to screw around in when it's wet out.
the reason i love the rain is you can do burnouts, and slides with less wear and tear then in dry, less brakes needed to stay stopped, cause not as much grip, and not as much tire wear cause its wet. easier to start a slide.

but i dont know first hand tbh
Lol you like it but you have never done it... dude
well i like the rain in a way to look forward to it

and yeah i got a year to go
lool

like you and sexytime?
wet weather sliding is the best way to learn car control because everything can be done at lower speeds
I learnt I'm not a bad driver actually the other day.. I came out of a corner too hot (I was playing around a bit) and got into a pretty large slide, corrected out and didn't even realize it until my friend was flipping out going "WTF DUSTIN!" and I'm like "what!?".

She said apparently someone on the side of the road gave me a big thumbs up after that.. I was pretty stoked.
I almost did some sliding a few times but only one wheel was spinning... stupid open diff, and i am too scared to do some real sliding.
I'm not. I ****ing slid a damn SUV-esque vehicle with bad tyres (My old 4Runner ), and never died.
