Saturday, September 10th.
I was just about to go take a shower with the grid girls after dominantly winning the 12h of Kyoto when I was rudely woken up by my clock.
It was 9.30 a.m. and 30 minutes later I found myself in the starting field of 12 roaring gtr cars. My start from the 6th position was going very smoothly and in the following laps I managed to fight my way up to 3rd place.
Our setup was nicely balanced and easy on the tires, so that we were able to do up to 16 laps without pitting.
We switched drivers about every 1,5 hours and I slowely began to remember that the hardest thing about endu racing is finding a comfortable sitting position
My teammates Martin and Dennis did a nice job, though. Dennis was more on the safe side, putting in relatively slow times but driving very consistent without a single major incident. Martin was pretty fast but had some bad luck while lapping slower drivers causing him to get stuck in a sandtrap. During his last stints, he was very quick and consistent.
I made one major mistake after getting a nice first split. I wanted to get a 2.14 and pushed too hard. My rear left tire got a little bit on the gras and the rear instantly flicked out, throwing me into the wall. I was much more consistent when I didn't see my split times due to that weird bug
Also, I was hearing weird noises from my car and I though I was getting a mechanical failure, but it turned out it was just Dennis in the teamspeak, sneezing his nose
After all, the race was very exciting, especially in the first 2/3 when we were directly competing with ocr fxr, nic and n!. It's just cool that the teams were so close, even after such a great distance. Next time we'll beat you guys, I promise
Grats to the winning team. Great job. Looking forward to the next race!
Thanks to all participants.
