PC problem monitor coming up blank
Hi guys i've had this custom built PC we bought around 5 five years ago and haven't had it out for about a year now because when you turn it on absoloutely nothing comes up on the screen, any ideas why it would do this?

P.S it has done this before and we got it repaired by someone (this time I want to fix it myself.

Thanks
Have you tried testing it on another monitor, could be the monitor that's faulty?

Or even try a different monitor cable as that could be damaged

If it still isnt working i would try change the graphics card, if you have an old one or one from another pc lying around try swap them just to check it.

Hi this is a different monitor but I will see if I can find a different monitor cable

Thanks
Any beeping coming from it? Try removing some of the RAM and booting it again.

By the way ABSOLOUTELY nothing comes up on the screen
well not trying to state the obvious. But is the monitor switched on? Is the cable in correctly? Does the GFX card have enough power? is the monitor plugged in? Try these steps then report back. Try plugging it into onboard GFX if it is on a card.
i've noticed a lot of dell lcd monitors would die in a way where it would not turn on even if it gets a signal. all you have to do is turn it off, turn it back on and then smack it. yeah, i know... but it works.

this obviously depends on if it's the monitor or the computer...

you mentioned that the drives didn't power up... did you get stuck in a storm recently? if you know what you're doing, pull everything except the cpu/ram/video card and see if it works then... hopefully your motherboard isn't toast.

Hi what do you mean by does the GFX card have enough power?

Also no beeping by the way
It may be the PSU, try another PSU.
And tryed removing some of the ram, made no difference
Then lend a PSU from some friends or someone.
Think I'm going to get a new PC instead as this one isn't even that good anymore and my Dell laptop is better for gaming than the PC
