i think i like it, but how much does it cost?
Quote from Rappa Z :i think i like it, but how much does it cost?

Probably about half the price of a brand new game. It's been out for ages now so i dont realy see it being to pricey.

Amazon say $38... So most likely a little cheaper in the shops.
Well it cost me £30 from PC World which was pricey but I didn't expect it to be any less than maybe £25 which isn't worth buying online after P+P. I may have been wrong.
Yeah, well said Funnybear.

I don't think there is a game in existence that contains as many wankers as BF2 does.... but that's just the nature of the game.

Expect to cop so many bullets in the back of the head from your team mates whilst you run towards an available chopper... because, hey, you were about to take THEIR chopper illepall It's one of the reasons i wanted to stop playing BF2. So many asswipes.

But, the battlefield beckons me. It's so damn addictive. To be able to parachute out your bomber jet at mach 1 and then land in an abrahms tank, shoot a few troops, quickly bail out and jump on an AA gun and take out a chopper then run over to a jeep and run over a few enemies whilst being chased by an APC is just the recipe for a never ending amount of things to do and awesome online fun

I miss Blackhawk whoring I got 220 points in one round BH whoring. For those that don't know, you average around 40-60 points per round if you're a half decent player!
I've been playing BF2 since the beta and, well, I still enjoy it. Sure, there are loads of problems with it, but I still think it's great. I still play daily and am in the process of ranking up my second account

If anyone wants a game sometime, PM me

Also, check out Project Reality Mini-Mod for BF2, it's pure awesome.

As for the TKing for choppers and stuff, it depends where you play. The servers I frequent rarely get any play like that on them at all, they're constantly admined, and are booted after 4 punished TKs or so.
Did nobody BF Vietnam? I played that for a while, was way more fun than BF2, although BF2 is better, I just can't get a decent onlne game with BF2 and the choppers are alot slower :P

I felt like reinstalling Vietnam but I doubt anyone plays it anymore, as when BF2 came out it died completely.

Quote from Chrester :I play AA and my honour is 70. Fav.map is for the moment Dusk.

Cool, maybe we can play some day.

I enjoy playing BF2, although I have a serious complaint about weapon accuracy. This applies especially to the 50cal sniper rifle which is seemingly the most inaccurate piece of crap ever modeled. Unless I am missing something (note the pun), there are evidently no elevation or windage adjustments on the weapon's scope. I assume this is just to keep things simple, but it's driving me nuts. I've read a number of tips for improving the accuracy of the rifle, one of which was something like "aim for the farthest ear of your target". This may work in the game, I don't know, but it is certainly somewhat inconsistent with ballistics and how a real rifle functions, not to mention rather odd. I often miss easy 200 meter shots on stationary targets while in the prone position. This is absolutely goofy. I've fired many real weapons including a number of scoped rifles and one can easily drill a coke can all day long at 200 meters! I would be more consistent at 200 meters lobbing in pellets with an air rifle! Something sure doesn't seem right.
I think, from what I gathered whilst still playing it, that many of the weapons suffer from the whole lag/prediction/hitbox issues. It was an often brought up critism on the forums and Dice had never really got to fixing it. Apparently (I used to play Sniper quite a bit) there is a way to minimize your losses and aim above-side-below-100yards behind you target but it was so counter-intuitive that I could never get the hang of it. Which is why I would quitew often switch to tanking. The splash damage from the big shells can rack up some massive scores. You just gotta watch you arse for covert.

In fact, checking out my stats, my most played characture was an engineer and the most played vehicle was tank quickly followed by the chopper.

I tell you one thing I did like about BF2. Whoever designed those maps should get a medal. A healthy balance between realism and playability. Well balanced with good implementation of choke points, sneak arounds and scale. Believable situations and locations and plenty to do for all classes. It's just a shame the game as a whole couldn't back up the brilliance in the maps.
Complaining about a .50 cal military grade munition's ballistic and wounding properties is rather silly in a context of an arcade game suited for kids over 13.
After all this BF2 talk I thought i'd have another go on BF2 last night, and with about 16 players we had a great game, I'm still learning new things though.

Like when I went commander, I got this map up on screen that I could scan the whole area etc etc. I went commander later on though and couldn't get this screen up, so what button do I press to get that on?

And I only liked the origional BF Vietnam, alot of people went to the WW2 version, I didn't like it though....

also maybe start a lfs bf2 clan? and take on the might on the bf2 clans
just a thought
so, which BF2 should i get? which has more ppl?
You buy BF2... then you download the updates. Which i think the latest one is a little over 300mb worth. The only expansion back for BF2 is Special Forces (afaik). You don't need SF.. there are plenty of servers for just normal BF2.

A friend of mine still plays and he claims that they've fixed the sniper rifle. He says he just sits up on hills and snipes all game, he loves it, he's a whore.
think i will get the original. Shinanigans, When i get it i'm gonna be like your friend.
Just get original BF2, and download the 1.3 patch. Sorted.

I keep upgrading my computer just so I can play BF2 with decent settings.

Excellent idea

I am a keen BF2 player & I am sure there are enough of us LFS players to form a Clan. All we need is a server that we can use a few nights a week & a web site (or forum area).

Offers or Ideas?

yay, a friend! :hyper:

I'm up for some games man! I love teaching people how to play games, it's good fun. Dunno how well we'll go with the USA->Australia timezones, but we'll sort something out.

PM me when you have it.
Quote from Rappa Z :is BF2 worth the money? I might convince me parents into getting me it.

Tell your parents that the game includes lots of brutal killing. I think they'll like that.

Quote from Mauni :There is also this new Battlefield 2142 coming out soon(?). I'll not buy it, because robot theme is just not for me.

Unbelievable that it still seems to have the same lame hitpoints damage system. At least what I've seen in the videos. I thought they would finally make the real next-gen BF game (I think BF Vietnam was kind of BF 1½ and BF2 was nearly "2"). So basicly the engine and game is still the same, just with a new theme with new scifi robot models which are of course superduper cool (not). Well, EA knows how to make money with old recycled ideas...

Why do you say that? It's a perfectly valid observation and a frustrating issue while playing the game. It's not silly at all for someone who enjoys the immersion of the game. It's a perfectly rational comparison when they allegedly model a real world weapon.

Yea the music is probarly the best thing about the game lol, Get in a Huey or something and when you appear over the hill to get some tanks you put on the star wars tune and blow them to peices. Good fun, I wanna download the new patch but i'm gunna wait a week or 2 coz I don't want to go over my stupid download limit in the 1st month. (BT check your downloading for the first few months then they don't check it after that, I used to download about 30gb a month with a 2gb "download limit")

So what's in the 1.3 patch that's better than the origional, anything tempting to share?

Ps, Thanks Psy, was a cool little feature that.

I think it should be called "Battlefield Mechwarrior".
