Snooker fans? Try QuickSnooker
I am an active QuickSnooker player and community member for nearly two years now, and would like to recommend the game to other people.

QuickSnooker is a snooker and pool simulation game which can be played both off- and online. The game has 4 game types:

- short snooker (10 reds)
- full snooker (15 reds)
- pool
- 9 ball

Snooker can be played on two sorts of tables. One is a professional setup, while the other one is much smaller and easier to play on, but good fun too.
The games can be played against 4 levels of AI, against another human player on the same computer or online against other people around the world.

Normally the game could be tried for 7 days but with limited features, but you can also have a go with the full version for 7 days by entering the following code: 7FWK

After downloading and installing the software, you are ready to start the game. On the first screen that comes up you will see the field Voucher code, enter the code I've just given and click the unlock button to get all features for free for one week.

If you like the game you could buy a license for 60 days which will cost you 5 pounds, while a license for a year will cost you 20 pounds.
Hopefully you will give the game a try and I would be more then happy to give you a game once you got used to it. (look for Yisc in the Internet Waiting Room)

In case you have any family, friends or co-workers which are interested in snooker, recommend them QuickSnooker and give them the above stated code, so they can try the full game one week for free too.

Imma have a go at it
Ive played some in PlayRay.

Is a good game.
Nice aroX, let me know if you want a game
seems like fun, will grab it later and waste a few mins on it as ive only gotten back into snooker/pool lately and its a seriously under rated game
would play it but i dont like games that a subscription based.
either i buy a game or i dont

if anyone knows an alternate (pool/snooker) let me know.

Then I would recommend Virtual Pool 3.
Although I think that 20 pounds (no matter how many frames you play in a year) isn't a waste of money.
You could try Carom3D, it's free. If you mostly play with people you know, the micropayments issue is irrelevant, and even then it's not huge unless you're super serious. Loads of game types, easy to play, games 24h, but the anime style is love/hate. Protip: enter single-player game, press ESC, turn BG music off and adjust mouse sensitivity.

when i played it...it just wasnt the great.
It's been getting steady updates all along, hard to say what's really "new" though. Doesn't take long to try
alright...ill check later if its gotten better
QuickSnooker version 7.0.633 has just been released with the following updates:

- Fixes a rare problem when the white covers the black spot, and black must be respotted (after a draw)
- Improves 'My Details' giving a correctly sized window with better formatting
- Names changes in 'My Details' now update the program instantly

Update instructions:

XP: close QuickSnooker, start QuickSnooker and click 'Yes' when prompted for update

Vista/Windows 7: close QuickSnooker, right click the QuickSnooker icon, select 'Run as administrator' from the menu, select 'Yes' when prompted for update
I think the best is iSnooker. (for pool players iPool.) I have played iSnooker for a while now and it is a great game. Unfortunatelly, you have to pay to get an account, but for trying, you can make a 10day Trial Account. Also, if you don't want to pay, you can always stay in the guest servers. You can stay there forever, you don't have to pay for being a guest.

Has anyone tried QuickSnooker already and if so, what are the first experiences?

How much are they paying you for that advertising?

I also can't see why I should get a subscription for that kind of game, seems more like a ripoff to me. If more games used that model, I'd still have to pay if I wanted to play Theme Hospital.
Also I prefer the real thing, billard games just don't feel quite right.

Nothing is payed to me.
QuickSnooker is developed by one person (Nick Axworthy) and is a great game in my opinion, with good offline play and a very nice online community.
Of course you are entitled to have your opinion, I think that 20 pounds for a game you can play as much as you want, is good value for money.
The most active players play ~500 frames a month, which goes near to 6000 frames during a year.
If one frame takes somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes (let's say 13 as average) you play the game 6000 x 13 minutes = 78000 minutes a year = 1300 hours a year.
In the previous months a lot of updates have been send out, in order to make QuickSnooker better and better. This weekend update .700 has been released with the following changelog:

•General improvements to AI safety play.
•AI now uses middle pockets more appropriately.
•Fix for rare case where colours stay in/float over pockets.
•Balls are considered potted and drop slightly earlier for smoother play - also fixes problems with some pots to the middle pockets.
•Removed 'unhandled mode in processleftmousedown'.
•Further improved handling of dropped/poor connections including New connection quality bar for on-line games. On-line game now have a *very* thin green line at the top left of the screen - This shows how much unacknowledged data has been sent to your opponent - so a big line.. is 'bad'.. Once the green line reaches accross the screen, you can assume the connection has been temporarily lost - the line will now start again as red.. you are now buffering data now for when if the connection is recovered.. If the red line reaches the right, the connection is considered 'lost'. In practise, you should be able to more or less completely ignore the line, but it gives anyone who's interested a much better idea of what's going on behind the scenes.
•Gallery.. You can now press F1 after any shot to store on-line for replay or sharing later. - Note, although you can resume a stored game, It cannot be played for points, and If you resume a game that was with an on-line opponent, you will get to play both sides.. but no win will be reported.
•'Send last shot to support' - reinstated, shot will go to your gallery, and be marked as a fault for investigation.
•Translations.. click any players flag (in the grid) to translate your composed post into their language.
•Translated Posts are now tagged with the correct language, so the 'fish' works to translate them back

More updates will be released soon, including an improved table.
There are also plans to add a spectator mode, so you will be able to watch other matches.

If you want to try the full game during your trial period, you have to enter the following key: 7FWK

-Start the game
-Enter the code into the Voucher code field
-Click the unlock button

You will now have the full game for free, as long as your trial period lasts.
No strings attached what so ever.

Let me know what you think about the game (pros/cons) and I will be happy to give you a game if you think you can beat me
It's been a long time since I posted any updates in this topic.
In the mean time the game had a whole series of updates, with the most recent one bringing the spectate feature to the game.
This means you can now watch matches between others.

You can read about all the updates: here

QuickSnooker download: Download QuickSnooker

If you want to try the game as a registered player for free, just type the following code into the Voucher code field after starting the program: 7FWK
Then click the Unlock button.
After that you will be a registered player for 7 days, which means you will be able to challenge people and play against the computer on both S5 (Novice) and S4 (Amateur) level.
If only, if only they had a HTML5, WebGL version of this game. Running linux, so I can't play it. Will download when I get home tho.

I'm sure there are ways of running a Windows program under linux.
Let me know what you think of it and if I happen to spot you online there, I will give you a game.
