mrodgers you seem to have more of an agenda than just being against a movie, it's not a money making scam, we live in a consumer driven economy, they make the movies that they think will make them money. At the end of the day this is just a movie that believe it or not some people will see and enjoy, but you can post pointless nonsensical rants all day since that's what you seem to enjoy doing. Your first mistake was that you presume to think that your idea of entertainment applies to everyone.
Quote from squidhead :You gotta LOVE those F'n'F movies, I bet the S-Klasse owner already Loves Street Drifters, AND the movie that made a lot of IDIOTS BELIEVE they ARE STREET DRIFTERS

LOOOOOOL, I'm sure the MB guy would like to drift his punch in the driter's face.

You don't have to be non-sense and go overkill with every dramatic effects to impress the general public I am quite sure, while car enthruisasts are in no way a minority in this world, sure their marketing department will tell them this and that would be a big hit, but if you are to make a car movie, then I assume you at least in some way like cars with depth and taste, you shouldn't really protray such material in a way that is totally against the reality, and make them appear as a superficial wannabie lifestyle thing.

You don't make movie JUST to make money I suppose, you make a movie because you want to say something, I see no effort in that aspect, the sequels are just like changing fashion that keep it up to date with the latest "list of cool", hardly any innovation and new ideas, they are just squeezing the last drop of oil from an exhausting material (base on their limited scope).

As long as movie is a creative business I don't think making money can justify the lack of creativity and depth.

Whoa there people, chill out there for 30 seconds. I've just trawled through 3 pages of this thread, and not a single person has said they have bought their ticket, sat down, and watched this movie. That really doesn't qualify you to say much about it.

I went to see this on Friday evening with my girlfriend, and I was pleasantly surprised. While many of you will disagree, I though that it was a much better movie than the previous two. While still not very realistic, it presented a more true to life scenario that the Neon and NAWS fantasy of the last movie. I'm not saying that it was 100% accurate but as a movie about drifting, it was worth the price of admission. I enjoyed the portrayal of Tokyo itself, the lack of space, the colours, the fashions. And though it won't win an Oscar for Best Screenplay, it did have a storyline, with characters, and plot development, and at least some attempt to get the audience to empathise with the cast. There may not be any surprises for guessing where the movie was headed, but it managed to keep my attention for the 90 minutes or whatever. Also worth a mention were the various cameos during the movies, a couple actually made me laugh out loud.

OK, I know nobody in a HULK Touran should be allowed breathe, let alone drive on the public streets, but given more it's an example of the OTT nature of Japanese car modification culture (Bosozuku, anyone?) The same goes for the ganguro fans of the villian,

The sountrack was pretty good too, though that may not be apparent from the d/l'd version.

And surprise, surprise, when we left the cinema, and got into our (FWD) cars, neither of us felt tempted to get sidewayz around the nearest corner. Idiots will behave like idiots no matter what they see, I think movies like this (and the forthcoming InitialBig grin) raise the awareness for drifting. Whether that's a good or bad thing I leave to you.

Obviously this film isn't for everyone, but if you are a fan of cars, and have at least a passing interest in drifting, you could do worse than see this movie. Four out of five stars.

Later folkses,
!Zzz
I'm with Insomniax here. And yes, I did go with mates in a great modified car and enjoy the film, but no we're not ricers or stupid enough to think a FWD can drift like the cars in the movie.
mrogers - I completely agree. There are very few Hollywood movies worth watching these days. Everything is always over the top, just look what they did with the second transporter movie. The whole plane scene was just idiotic. Hell, my two favorite movies are actually european flicks. "V for Vendetta" and "The Transporter." At least.. I think the first transporter was european... anyhow... I'm more in favour of unique movies. "The Island" was amazing IMHO, based on a book written in the 40's I think, although it was an American movie, it was still great. "V for Vendetta" was absolutely brilliant! Then there is "Reign of Fire," another european jem.

Not to say all American movies suck, some are great. "Eruo Trip" has to be my favorite comedy of all time. "Black Hawk Down" was incredibly well done, and very true to the real events that transpired that day/night.

Movies like F&F just pollute the market; it's no wonder our society is in such shambles when they look up to actors or characters in movies. Sad really.

:iagree:
I don't care what the hard core car enthusiasts think about this film, I'll probably go watch it, if not at the movies, I'll wait for the DVD or when it comes on TV.

The funny thing here is, that it's very common here to call someone a cracker, and accuse them of everything filfthy using a crack on LFS, while how many of you guys downloaded that movie? How many downloaded it in a legal manner? Hmmm... I don't care how bad the movie business is, but stealing is stealing.
It's all relative.
Why do you say V for Vendetta was a european movie? Just because it was shot in Britain? Sure it was based on the comic by the British Alan Moore set in a future dystopian UK but the screensplay was written and it was produced by the Wachowski Brothers and distributed by Warner Brothers.
yea.. ronnin, my bad, havent seen\heard of it for several years; sorry about internet down here, kinda.. on off (like electricity.. and well.. everything else [except everything else down here never turns back on once off lol])

was watching G4 today and FormulaD was on, hey.. atleast they used real drifters in the movie..

so its not all show and no go like the other F&F movies

@maggot; best movie ontop of eurotrip is super troopers

Quote from Alex_Tiger :jayhawk, you are overexagerating! i dont understand why are you so pissd over f&f?? i mean yes, its far from real but who said it will be a realistic racing movie????

What I posted is EXACTLY what I did.

OK, lets say you are very passionate when it comes to...I dont know, lets say knitting. What if someone made movie that protrayed knitting in such a bastardized light, and made it look like the world of knitting is filled with ignorant tards, and you wonder where they came up with such silly notions about knitting?

See, that is how it is with me. I have been love with the autombile since I was a very small child, and then this trifecta of shite comes around, and shows a very UNACCURATE side to underground racing.

And I should know, considering I was (was!) very involved with street racing from an early age. No hot women hung out, there were few show cars and the ones that were, were laughed away with their tail between their legs. No, the REAL street racers you dont hear about...are dorks. Nerdy dorks who like me are obsessed with cars. The cool, attractive people were the ones who DIDNT race, but spent their time getting laid. Not us, if we could, we would have ****ed our cars nightly.

Drifting....pffffft. Thats nothing new to me, or my buddy Craig when we used to tear around on hilly roads in Western Wisconsin. That was in the mid 1990's. He had a 1983 Oldmobile Cutlass Coupe with a 455 V8 from a 1974 Tornado plopped into it. Even with that car, he could drift it, because he had DRIVING SKILL, not a perfect suspension or tires.

And now this idiotic movies comes along. First I had to put up for YEARS listening to ignorant fools quote lines from that first F & F movie, or pretend they knew what they were talking about. Everyone; raise your hand in you have heard some jackanape say "NAWZ". Am I right or what?

Now every kid with a licence will try to pretend to drift, and even worse they will try to do so in a FWD car. Oh. Joy. Simply put, what SHOULD be underground, is now...not!

You know, back when I used to race, we had a quiet stretch of farmroad to do so on. After the first F & F movie, these dumbasses strted racing where, if things went bad, the general public who DIDNT want to be involved were the ones getting into accidents, or injured, or sometimes dying. I have been to too many funerals from street racing, and you know what my motto is now?

"Want to race? Take it to the ****ing track!!!"
:iagree:
meh. us bikers got the same when the outburst of automobile shite dripped over to us with 'Torque' and 'Biker Boyz' but i just laugh it off as a cheesy film, that is far from any truth with bikes in it.

its still just a film, so i dont take these seriously at all. ill just laugh when i see some bloke on a k5 thou on the side of the road in shorts and a t-shirt with a busted tail from trying to wheelie.

just let the punks who take everything from movies and apply it to RL screw up their cars/towns/lifes and get on with your obvious love for all things cars.
these guys who will now drift are the same kind that go out and kill cause'a game told them to' or 'they heard it in a bon jovi album' tbh, the world is best off without them, so let them do what they want till it bites them in the ass
Apologys to all, I done a cowardly and embarrissing thing today, yes, you guessed it, went to see the film at the cinema. Earlier on I said I wouldn't waste money on the film, now what have I done.

It was that or wait about an hour to see Posiedon or whatever it's called, I was with a girl and you know how all the girls love these films...(why I do not know) Was only 4quid each.

On the plus side it was watchable but still, very far fetched and the trailers included that new film "Cars" Looks amazing eh? Razz

Some nice crashes and rolls in it but the one at the start was way to extreme for my liking, when he rolls his old muscle car about 40 times....The ending was nice also to see Vin Diesel in the film again but really, that's all from me.

Regards,

This threads biggest coward.

Shrug
OMG you should be banned!!! :P
So you went with a girl and actually saw the movie? You don't really get this do you? Smile

I wanna see the movie too... And that "cars" movie looks good too... Must see that one too!
#93 - joen
I saw Cars yesterday. Go watch it, it's a cool funny movie, definitely enjoyed it. 100 times more worth seeing than that silly FF crap Smile
Only 100 times? Maybe I won't go see Cars now. :P
Yup, Saturday is the big local model RC airplane meet that my 5 yr old is dying to see, so probably Sunday I'll take both girls to see Cars. I can't wait for either one Razz . Just got the wife's car fixed, so if she takes them to see Cars without me, I'll beat her!
only the differance is that cars is an animated movie and fnf is real. yes indeed i also saw cars and i liked it very much! and i agree with bawbag 2...i like the music, dom, his mucle car Smile) and the chics Big grin i admit that the drifting is crappy, i sad it before and i say it again; this part with drifting was just to atract ppl to watch the movie, cuz i heard that now drifting (d1) is evolving in the us.....imo
how is the drifting bad? they use real FormulaD drifters lol?

or is it just the way the movie is set up so its.. not reall the drifting that sucks, its just the actors screwing up the drifting
Cars is computer generated, but I'd hardly say Fast and Furious is real :pillepall
The 'real' drifting int he movie obviously was nice to watch, but like when they are racing down the hill, or drift racing, whatever, it is computer generated and then when they get closer to the cam you see it change into real if you get me.

I still don't get how they had to drift in a car chase, I mean, if some guy was after me with a gun, i'd be goin as straight and as fast as I can, especcially with them cars lol.

Btw, I know I should be banned, but when you are trying to impress or just keep a girl happy, you can't say no i'm not going to watch this movie because of some far fetched silly ideas.

The thing is I really liked the old "ex" muscle car that he puts the Nissan engine in, but what a stupid thing to do, I mean, they could have made him find a old V8 instead of that lol.
Quote from Bawbag :Btw, I know I should be banned, but when you are trying to impress or just keep a girl happy, you can't say no i'm not going to watch this movie because of some far fetched silly ideas.

I'm the last guy to know how to keep a girl happy, I guess, looking at my situation Big grin But you still don't know what I mean Razz
Nevermind tho, back to the movies!

I wonder how long it would take for me to finally go and see that movie... I need someone to accompany me... Meh, I'll see it some day Big grin Both of them! FnF and Cars!
