It's plausible for some superchargers (including turbo-superchargers) to reach pressure ratios of 10 or more for short periods of time, which is approximately 140psi boost relative to a standard atmosphere. This thus renders the last post with 'max psi' and '50-60 more hp' a bit silly, as there is no such thing as 'max psi', and even if there was it could quite easily produce more that '50-60 more'.

well tristan you must know a turbo can only put out as much as the car can give, (i.e. "max PSI") you can set the turbo for 500PSI if you like but the car wont move LOL becus the turbo can only put out as much as the exhaustmanafold can. if you car cant give it the air the turbo needs to put out that much PSI the turbo will never spoll up. i only know about it becus i've seen a touge video where the redoxx supra used it, now i dont know if he had it limited to 50-60HP boost but thats as much as it gave.

im no car guru (no shit :/ ) but i think a 140PSI boost would blow the motor to hell and back, there would be no head left lol.

lol wheel4hummer.... yes they can fly!!!! but dont make fun of hondas, a well tuned NSX will blow the doors off any thing we can get in the US lol

What a stupid claim, just because a tuned japanese car can beat a stock american car does not make the japanese car better. That's not even ground. Compare stock cars from the same class.

Turbochargers essentially run off heat, and thermodynamic laws are what drive turbochargers. Throughput of "air" (and the dumping of kinetic energy stored therewith) through an exhaust manifold is only a small percentage of acceleration imposed on on a turbocharger's turbine side. Spool time has far more to do with the pressure differential between the influent and effluent side of a turbo, since the potential for expansion of "air" is greater under the circumstances of a greater differential of pressure.

Well, whatever. There's also many a "well tuned" Z06 that would thrash any NSX, handling included. And also, many a well tuned WRX STi or Lanver Evo that would do the same, not to mention almost any Skyline, not to mention a Caterham in "stock form"...

Who cares where the car is from? There are great cars all over the world. I have nothing against NSXs, but stock for stock they sure cost a lot for what you get performance wise compared to lots
A well tuned korean shopping trolley (even one with wonky casters) could beat an NSX too. When you talk about 'tuning' you talk about ability, money and time. With the application of enough of those things I could send a shopping trolley to Mars, or an NSX to the bottom of the Mariana Ridge.

I seriously doubt that nsx would go head to head with a sports version V10 viper? Mind you I'll have to ask some americans for confirmation on that though as I'm in Australia sadly without a lot of the american sports class cars

dont think a car is god becus it has a bigger motor in it now, that V10 viper only comes with 500HP so if were runing only stock i'll just call on the ZZII with 550HP coming form an I6 twin turbo (RB26DETT) with a mid4 layout and a weight of 1000kg, the viper can in NO way win that race on a drag strip or a touge lol and if you call out the linfigger (sp?) ZO6 i'll just get out the TRD quicksillver supra, only 9 ever made but there still a "stock" car how ever much that word really means lol

a twin turbo is not what I thought you meant by turbo charged cars !

and I wouldn't rate any turbo on a drag strip, cubes rule on the strip, there are NO 6 second turbo cars on the strip that I'm aware of and a touge or "two car race on twisty bits" doesn't really allow the power of a v8 or v10 to come into effect, and matching a mid engined car against a viper in (touge) etc is really stacking the odds on the better handling not the power which was the issue here?

lets do a theoretical 1000 mile non stop race across america (if it could be done) I think any turbo may suffer because of atmospheric changes, overheating in really sustained high speed situations would possibly occur, while i'm not qualified to give more than an educated guess.

I'd prefer a large motor for really long distance work, they are agricultural maybe but have near bulletproof reliability and are designed for long hauling at reasonable high speed useage. We'll leave the handling out of the equation to concentrate on power and delivery, sure I think I could find some "production" variants of V8 and better sports cars that prolly no longer are mainstream to counter most specialist turbo stuff you could rake up, however I was thinking on a more even keel of just mainstream everyday stuff like wrx evos etc not nismo engineered stuff like the NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune which you'd drag out against anything I'd come up with lets face it mainstream showroom non import (specialist tuned) turbos would struggle against big motors most of the time under ordinary situations.

Also, don't forget that most cars are mass production items. Car
manufacturers will re-use existing parts as much as possible to save R&D
costs which is one of the reasons a Viper or a Corvette costs much less
than a comparable Ferrari. In the case of the Viper, Dodge simply took an
existing truck engine and re-tuned it for performance in a sports car.
Who's to say it couldn't make 1000bhp if they really tried ?! I believe a
few tuners did. As long as we look at V10s, what about the 'new' Audi V10
which makes around 400bhp. It's based on the Gallardo V10 btw. Audi
saved money by re-using an engine from their 'parts bin' and tuned it to
match the work required from it. Who's to say it couldn't also make
1000bhp ?! All this is NA. Fact is, you could turbo anything.

If any of you watch that british show called Top Gear, you might have
seen how the 400bhp Evo could hang with the Murcielago on their track.
Thing is, the Evo had the same crappy plastic interior as the base
models, horrible turbo lag and a clutch hard enough to make you walk in
circles for days. Reminds me of something i read in a magazine once.
At the end of the day, the driver of the Evo is still going home in a
Mitsubishi while the driver of the Murcielago is going home in a
Lamborghini. The fact that the Lambo is used as the benchmark should

Don't forget that the ford GT would crush a nsx, but not in handling.
Or in reliability. Or in back road scratching. Or in coolness. Or in originality. But yes in a straight line it is probably quicker.

ok yes in a 1000mile race a turbo car wouldnt make it, BUT no stock car would lol NA or turbo. and the V10 viper is tuned by SRT, thats a branch of mopar lol so if you get that than i get TRD and nismo lol.


and ohhhh fonnybone lol dont start in on moding cars lol becus JDM will win that all day lol there are 2000+ HP supras in the world (skylines too, and much more) and if i say tell you can cant spend more than 80k on the car you'll never beat me i'll buy an 87 AE86 for 1,500$ and put 78,500 into tuning the car i'll have well over 500HP to the rear wheels of a 2000lb car lol that can jump around turns faster than most super cars can lol you can buy the viper but it's going to stay stock lol and in the end you'll feel dumb for the money you spent on that viper that i just got done blowing the doors off hehe

oh and you can get a 4AG-E redtop to 500+ HP NA so no the car wouldnt be turbo lol.
