Well I ran my SRT-4 at the track today, it was a hot hot day with no clouds to speak of to cool you down until at the very end of the day. We woke up at about 5AM and were on the road by 0530, we stipped at my Uncles to pick him and my cousin up with their Chevy S10 and Saturn, the S10 was carrying my uncles motorcycle he was going to race.
We made it to the track in one piece by 0830 and we were through tech inspection by 0900 and getting lined up to have a few practice sessions. My first run was wheelsin when I decided to go through the water pit instead of around it... I was left sitting at the line with smoke coming off my KDW tires before I grabbed second to stop the spinning....
The second time I didn't go through the water and I didn't do a burnout, when I pulled up to stage the staging guy said I should do a little one to get the gravel off my tires... anyways I line up and take off, this time I just dumped it and got a ton of wheelhop and tire spin. Back in the pits I stiffened up my front suspension, rear is already maxxed, and drop 5 pounds of pressure in the front tires ( I was at almost 40 pounds of pressure, a bit too high for drag racing...) I spent the next few runs testing out how to launch the car well, I had problem of not letting the slutch slip while launching and bogging my car down...
One of these runs I ran my fast time, which out of my 10 runs, I had 3 that were 3 hundreths of a second different =) I would have had more but 4 of my runs I bogged the engine down at the start. so basically 3 out of 6 and the other runs were still very respectable where I just plain had too much wheel spin.
Anyways onto the 3 hundreths part. I had a fast time of 13.77 at 101.2MPH another run I had was 13.79 and then another run I had 13.80 everything wen perfect on on these runs, with launching the car to shifting ( yes I did miss second once, not fun with over 1k people watching you =) There was one run I did that had the whole crowd cheering! I ran by myself, the announcer while I was getting ready told the crowd about my car, and that it was stock and I used it to drive to work every day. When I launched my car, tires howling just at the point of max traction, I grab second tires go screeching again, I grab third( I did not hear this, but the crowd did) and the tires screeched again from the hard shifts!!! and then hitting 4th I finished the run with a 13.8 and 101 MPH. My brother kept getting people saying that there was no way my car could have been stock for the times I was running, and that my car is AWD because of how hard it launches off the line, among other comments like that "your brother sure knows what he's doing" type of thing.
All in all I was happy with the day even though I lost in the first round of elimitantions( I didn't slide the clutch enough and I bogged the car down) The end result is that I know my car is in the mid/high 13's =)
