Anyone know how to do a proper start in the XRR? As soon as the starting lights go green the engine bogs and I get a slow start while the FZR's blow by. I've got the engine rev'd prior to green, but once the light changes... :banghead:
for the FO8, i'll just use heel-toeing for downshifting, so that isn't a problem for me
in the BF1 you don't need to turn on autoclutch, because it has a real sequential gearbox where you don't need to clutch yourself - so there i leave it on too
as for the XRR, how long are you revving it for, because if your only revving it a right before it goes green then your turbo is just spooling up rather than already at its peak
its the same with the FXR too, if you dont have it revving for that whole time the start lights light up, your just going to bog down because the turbo engines need that boost to get it going
Yeah, unfortunately - and that is the rule for ALL cars with a turbo in LFS - the best launch is when you start revving as soon as you are on the grid, to build up turbo pressure. You don't even need to lift for wheelspin (as long as it doesn't make *you* spin) because the difference in grip is marginal.
Gad, I am looking forward to the day when starts in LFS consist of more than just flooring it in the knowledge that the clutch will be dropped automatically when the lights turn green. Imagine how much better the starts will be if you have to react to the lights and use proper clutch and throttle control to get off the line. Jump start penalties, stalled cars, cars bogging down, it will really mix things up.
XRR engine has a turbo - a BIG one. This turbo MUST be spun up just when the green lights comes on..... Watch the turbo press gauge anbd be sure you have ther max possible pressure. Just floot the throttle 2 - 3 seconds before start. You engine shouldnt be harmed a lot and you will jump from the grid as a rocket....
Im XRR addictive so I know how to leave the starting grid with this beast
i like the XRR, the FZR is ok but i cant stand RR's and i dont like AWD to much so the FXR is out. the XRR just works for me, im an FR guy and allways will be
but like they say, just hold it to the floor as soon as you hit the grid. it doesnt seem like you can F up the motor in this game so your not going to over-rev. you can F up your motor but it takes going down the BL straight at 160, slaming it to first gear and holding down the gas untill you stop LOL if you ask me the motors in this game need work >_<
I think I figured it out based upon everyone's posts (what you guys have been describing isn't anything like what I've been experiencing). I use auto-clutch (only have two pedals, Logitech Momo). Would that be the problem? If so, how do I manually clutch with only on/off buttons available? Without clutch slip, is there any way to get a good launch. I've defintely got the revs/boost up before the green light shows itself.
Whilst I totally agree with your wishlist I dont think the current LFS starts are that bad, in the Fox in a public race i'll usually pick up 4-6 cars on the run to the first corner ... I dont floor it. In TBO's i'm still experimenting with starts but i'm not convinced that just flooring it gets you to T1 quickest. Certainly my Fox method doesnt work with them at all.
Yes, N/A cars require careful throttle appliance so you get every advantage there is, however small and hard to get it is. With TBO cars, turbo pressure is far more important as the difference is not in the hundredths but in the whole second range. Without a clutch, you have to decide between optimum wheel slip and turbo pressure and the choice is obvious IMO. With a clutch you can have both, though.
The latter part is true but the former is not. There have not been clutch pedals in a Ferrari since they introduced the semi-automatic with the pedals in 1989.
True, XRR was a nightmare to drive for me. But after patch came out, it handles really better.FZR has crazy acceleration, the best acceleration in LFS.
