Aside from the fact that you'd spend (gulp) 80k on a 20year old
Toyota, yes, i WOULD take a Lambo or Ferrari over a japenese car
ANYTIME. A-N-Y-T-I-M-E. I'll say it again, the fact that you NEED to
compare to any of them should be more than enough to show their
influence. Seriously, you wouldn't take an F430 over any Jekyll-tuned
japanese rice rocket ?! Maybe it's an age thing, i dunno. That 'name'
argument is futile, why is it that Ferrari and Lamborghini have to this
day an aura of superiority and prestige? I don't see anyone standing
in line for a 1million $ Toyota. Hey, i respect Toyota, they COULD make
a very good supercar, a reliable one, but they don't. If they did, it
would be a Lexus (here in north america) because even Toyota
themselves don't think their brand has enough prestige to warrant
such money. THEY are playing the name game here, not us.
Let me try to put it into something you might relate to, you are at a
party, you meet this girl and she needs a lift home. Which car would
you rather be driving, a lime green sticker filled Toyota, or a Ferrari?
Anyways, you are right, there's no end to this and i probably shouldn't
have replied, but i was bored today i guess
You could of course get a BMW 320, spend additional 20k €, and then you have the WTCC-BMW, which should be able to outrun your AE86 on pretty every circuit :P
Just a quick blurb on the NSX being the best performance car for the price in the US is just false. A stock SRT-4 has the same performance as an NSX, for 20K. I ran a 13.7 1/4 mile in my SRT-4 ACR last weekend, the ACR handles just as good as a maita when I tune the suspension up, then for 3k I could add over 120 HP putting the car over 360 by calling dodge, making it close to a viper in 1/4 mile, get some suspension mods from dodge and it will handle just as well too.
Anyways you cannot compair modded cars because you can make a car into just about anything, I saw a RWD cavalier the other day...
At the end of the day you still have an AE86, and I have a Viper. illepall Not to mention your car will fall apart. It was not built to have 500HP, it was built as a cheap 'sports car.' The Viper was built as a high-level sports car. Also, Japanese cars seem to rot pretty dang easy.
why the living hell do you seem to think a well tuned 86 would fall apart at the end of the day?!?!?!?!?! it would NOT, do you know that the motor i'de put in it is used in a rally car?!?!!? taking it to 500HP is WELL with in it limits.
you guys really crack me up man  i really would not a give a flying flip if you drive away in a viper at the end of the day, i still beat it. and as for a girl... well wen i pull up to dadys lil boy at a light and blow his doors off hardly useing 50% of what the car can do... who do you think she's going to be looking for the next day LOL
and im sorry but you guys think WAY to much of your super cars, NO way a camaro will beat me on a track that takes any skill to get around, maybe on a nascar track or a drag srip (only becus you have bigger tires, on a drag power to weight would kill you if i used the same size tires).
oh well i was right, you guys only know one word, SuperCarIsGod!!!!! and you seem to think that any one who can see the power of a toyota, nissan, or what not is a ricer. and thats WORNG but i will stop posting in here now, i just ask one thing DONT CALL ME A RICER i will hunt you down and kill you for that lol
The engine could take the punishement, not the chassis. The chassis was not designed for such things.
You would get a girl whos age is around 15. Women are not impressed by showoffs, believe me. Girls are, and who wants a girl? And by my remark "I'd still be in a Viper" I was not referring to getting girls, I was referring the point that there is more prestige in the car. I'd take a viper over an AE86 any day, even if it could beat anything in the world, because it is still an AE86. Being the best car is not all about performance figures, there's more to it than that. And who says that someone who has a Viper is "daddy's lil boy?" The hell does that have to do with it? Are you insuinating that everyone who has a nice car has had it bought for them by Daddy? Is not loving your father the cool thing to you?
You really are ignorant, aren't you? I don't think too much of any car, I give a car the respect that is due. I could do whatever I wanted to a Camaro and kick your AE86's ass. Besides that, the car is not the only thing that decides the outcome. Who's to say you have the skill to manage a 500HP AE86? Something tells me you would get beaten. Also, a Camaro is NOT a supercar. It's a musclecar. BIG difference.
Haha, that's clever. You merged 4 words to make one word. Aren't you smart? There is a reason super cars are called super cars. It's not just a random name, ya know. There is also NO way your 'tuned' AE86 could be a real supercar. Enzo, Zonda, Gallardo, etc. They'd blow your doors off with a driver of equal skill. No, you are NOT right. You are WRONG. You are not looking at all points of an argument. You are creating your own points and your own rules to make it seem as if you know what you are talking about, when in fact, you have no clue.
No one called you a ricer. I don't think Japanese imports are ricers. I think people who put lame bodykits and other stupid crap on cars are ricers. Your tuned AE86 would not be a rice rocket, it would be a tuner. Death threats are not well recieved on this forum either. Joke or not. Living in the US, you should know better than most the consequences of such remarks.
One last thing.. Try to use proper grammar in the future. It gives your post more validity, even in a post such as yours that has none or very little to begin with. I'll give you credit though, you didn't bling out the car, you did proper mods (assuming, anyways) so at least your post had a little bit of a purpose.
Well the srt-4 ran in the runoffs last year and placed 9th overall, that against any type of car you can think of, viper, vette, caddy, saleen, porshe. I believe there was over 100 cars entered. Fwd is just as fast as RWD, just trickier to stay fast =P
It's not an issue of fast, but an issue of handling. Theres no way a skittle can beat a viper on a road course. I wouldnt believe it unless I saw an un-edited video.
Did someone mention they can make it handle better than a Miata with suspension tuning? LOL. ROFL in fact. I'd love to see that. More grip maybe, but not better handling - the Miata is frequently in the top 6 best handling cars, and quite often wins! Well, the MX-5 does, maybe the American version (rubber bumpers and lardy wallowy suspension ) isn't as good.
You would have to ride in an ACR to find out, they come with tokico adjustable struts, stiffer shock rates, and bigger sway bars from the factory than stock SRT-4's
