The online racing simulator
I didn't expect much of this game physics wise, but they made it 10 times worse then the first one its ridiculous, considering this game is more aimed at the casual gamer its ridiculous how un controllable it is with the ps3 controller, hardcore mode is litterally impossible to drive from all the snap oversteer.

The interior detail is quite low as well, but apart from all that I like it.

Server connections really need to be fixed asap though as they randomly cut out and it takes like 30 mins to get them back up agian.
tbh i wasnt expecting much as mentioned above, because of the last game. But. hey its Ibiza but on my system i get low fps just cos you need some sort of super computer to run it. but its enjoyable. just got me a audi r8 and a california.
I don't see what the problem is, the physics were never realistic, and now they're less realistic, but we have loads more content, and it's not like the car aint fun to drive. I suspect the problem is we have a bunch of drifters on this forum and you can't really drift on TDU2. Certainly everytime I played Forza 3 with people on here the only thing they did was drift.
I Also wished you could adjust your cockpit seating position like in the first one.
On the north tip of Oahu there's a road that appears quite similar to Spa.

I doubt it will drive anything like it though.
Man this game has REALLY made me appreciate how reliable LFS's server/servers are (yes i know they have less traffic but still)

I can't believe Atari have such unreliable servers...

Bought it last night because my daughter loved the first one....

I disagree that the cars are fun to drive. I read either here or on one of the TDU forums I was browsing a comparison to Sega Rally from way back. Now that I've tried it, that is exactly what it seems like to me.

Cockpit view is terrible, there's no adjustment and all you have is a tiny little section of the screen to see out of. I've been using the hood (bonnet) view. Braking from any speed is nearly instantaneous.

I'm only using an xBox controller because I only have a MOMO wheel which I've read doesn't work with xBox. Forza isn't the greatest physics compared to something like LFS, but is pretty good. This is nothing even remotely like Forza. I've been wondering if all the talk here was biased from a sim racer/enthusiast view, but now having tried TDU2, I see the talk was not. It is pretty crappy.

What is the loads more content? I'm not online with the xBox, so haven't tried Test Drive online. How different can it be with online? There were clothes shops, car dealers, and tuners in version 1, there are those in version 2. From what I gathered, you met with people online and drove around, you meet with people online with version 2 and drive around. What is different?

Basically, it is like playing an old driving/racing game from around 1995. The driving physics and the sounds are basically, like I read someone say, like Sega Rally.
You have to play it on Hardcore to be fair, if you are it's quite fun. But then I liked Sega Rally, so maybe that's why I enjoy it. Either way here is a video of the car you unlock for finding 10 wrecks in the Ibiza 2 area...

u don't get the buggy for finding the vw beetle bits...u get it for finding the buggy bits. Whatever the wrecks u find, thats the car u get lol...
Anyone know where I can tune up my new Atom? They won't accept it to British shops.

Jog on, but yes you're right I got the name of the bits of junk wrong at 5am trying to do something productive. It's "you" not "u" by the way, u tit.

Yup, I'm playing on Hardcore, but I also don't have a wheel as I said. Wish my old MOMO worked with the xBox.

It's quite ridiculous the look of my game compared to all you folks, looking at that video. I'm playing xBox on a 1996 27 inch tube television, LOL. Makes it really hard to play games because I have to squint and sit 3 inches away from the TV to read anything on the screen.

I certainly didn't expect the driving model to play like a true racing simulator, but I also didn't expect it to be a driving model similar to what I played back when my 1996 television was new, LOL. With hardcore mode, I would expect it to be unplayable with a game controller and it being necessary to have a wheel, but that's just not the case.

I wish there was controller configuration options for the console folks. I never was a big console and game pad gamer as I had just acquired the xBox recently (free) and using buttons for something like shifting is odd. I'd love to put the shifter on the right stick just like the sequential shifter on my PC wheel.

I also really need to be able to change the FOV or the seat position in the cockpit for it to be useful. In LFS I use 50 degree FOV and can't stand seeing majority car interior when I'm trying to drive in a racing game/sim. Also can't stand seeing the wheel turning as I'm used to LFS and NR2003 as the last 2 racing "games" I've played for the last about 9 years and could remove the wheel from the view in those.

That right above obviously is nitpicking, but those are important for the feel of the game. The driving physics though is really bad when you can compare it to a game from 15 years ago.
Don't use the cockpit is my advice, I agree that the view you get from it is awful and the head movements make you think the car is sliding when it aint.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :...the physics were never realistic, and now they're less realistic...

That's not the problem. The physics are just wrong, that's it.
Then the control is bad, the graphics just OK and the sounds horrible. It's hard for me to imagine that some of you are actually having fun with this "game"
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Don't use the cockpit is my advice, I agree that the view you get from it is awful and the head movements make you think the car is sliding when it aint.

pretty much defeats the point of immersive cruising then, I thought that was why most people played TDU.

Don't see how the cars can be fun to drive (they are barely drivable!), I am actually playing NFS:HP instead of this, that's how bad it is.

I don't know what you mean by "head movements". You've said it before. Is PC different than XBox, or is it using a wheel is different than a controller? I have no head movements at all. The view is so locked down looking straight, no movement when turning, no cockpit movement from the car hitting bumps and such. Just dead straight as in, again, a driving game from 1995.

I also wonder what you folks mean when you say barely drivable. Is that barely drivable because it is too easy? That is how it is on the XBox. You drive maximum speed, hit the brakes very quickly at the very last minute because the car stops nearly instantaneous, turn and accelerate back to max speed. Again as I said, very 1995ish gamey.
I played it couple hours, and i actually liked it .
But when i got lvl 10 and wanted to go Hawaii , then after going on plane it just crashed, and now if i start game it just keep crashing at same place, and i cant go away from airport ..
Now i started new game and hope it doesent crash at the same place .
on pc version u can look left or right, for example at trafficlights. probably thats what head movement means
Am I the only one enjoying this game?

I personally think this game is a huge improvement over TDU1. How on earth can you guys say the graphics look exactly the same as TDU1? Are you running it on a bad computer? Are you Blind? Sure, the game does have some graphic similarities to TDU1, but overall it's a much nicer looking game. For a start, the interiors textures are not blurry and low-res anymore (At least not on the cars I have driven!). Driving along a twisty mountain road in an Alfa Romeo at night is awesome.

It's the same things with the Physics. I had a play with the settings, and after I done that, I found them much better. I can drift (And yes, they are hard to catch, but it is possible.), I can light up the rear tyres of my Mustang with ease and pour smoke everywhere. I get lift off oversteer in my Alfa Romeo Mito. My Lotus Espirit is twitchy as hell in corners, constantly transitioning between understeer and oversteer (All common characteristics of an old mid engine sports car, some would say?). Gravity is much better, as the cars are much less prone to launch into the air with the slightest of humps. These are all things that TDU1 did not have. Sure, the Physics are not the best, but what do you expect from a game that is made for people of all ages to play?

The Storyline. It can be a little tedious at first (The licenses REALLY ANNOY ME!) but once you get past the intro, it's quite fun. It gives you something to aim for. Another great thing is the quests, like finding the junk cars! I'm really enjoying trying to find them all. I already found the Buggy and VW beetle, and I'm currently looking for the 4 others in Hawaii. The great thing about finding these junk cars, is that some of the routes you have to take to find them are really epic. There is one road in Hawaii that is all mountain/dirt roads, and stretches from one end of the island to the other. I done the whole road in a Subaru Impreza STi with one of my buddies, and it was epic! One of the highlights was my friend doing a long drift in front of my car, only for someone in a Audi Q7 to come round the corner and plow into him, sending him flying down the mountain. By the time I spun my car around to see him, he was still barrel rolling down the mountain, and continued doing so for a little longer until he got wedged into a Tree. It was hilarious.

Another thing I love about this game, is the improved social aspects. The servers are playing up a little at the moment (Atari are currently fixing them.) but when they were working, they are great fun. I spent a few hours inviting friends to my recently bought Mansion (You can now decorate your Houses on TDU2, as well as adding custom pictures and paintings.) and they were free to roam around it and look in my Garage. We then decided to take a cruise down to the Casino 35 miles away. I put some music on, one of my Friends hopped in the passenger seat, and we were off. When we got to the Casino, we did some Poker, Slot Machines, bought some clothes etc. It really has improved in Social terms, and you can do a lot more with your friends now.

There are some things I dislike about the game though. Despite the graphics being better then TDU1, there are two issues that really bug me. Occasionally, you will see Trees on the horizon appear out of nowhere as you get closer to them. Also, mountains will sometimes lose there texture quality for a few seconds, then go back to high resolution. This has only happened to me once though. Apart from that, the game suffers from the typical TDU glitches. Some cars have incorrect gauges (The Buggys Rev counter goes 1-2-3-4-6-5-6-7 ) and others will also read the incorrect speed/RPM. This doesn't really bother me too much as I am concentrating on the road, but it can be annoying. Not being able to get rid of competitors cars (I now have a horrific pink mustang in my garage full of exotica. It looks great...:really and the on/off pedals are annoying too, but I'm hoping these will be patched later on.

So hate all you want, but I absolutely love this game and I am well and truly addicted. If it wasn't for my TV deciding to spontaneously combust earlier Today, I would still be playing it.
^Agreed.

I am also rendering a video of the Zonda F to show you how much the sounds have improved. Park any Zonda in a tunnel and it's eargasm central, and other peoples cars actually sound great too. I love parking up on a fast road and watching people blast past me, the best place is the road near the Bugatti showroom (European South), or the road heading north from the Italian Classic showroom.
wtf the installation is bullshit, it just wants to install to C:, I can't even change it. ****ing bullshit
You can. There's a checkbox on the first screen of the installation process.
why do they put it so small in the corner ffs
