Whoops, either I typoed it, or I made a brain-mix-up, happens.
Also, nah, I didn't look it up any closer, and that drawing fascinates me, and somehow scares me, I don't know why. Also, I don't think that that thing looks good, so I still wouldn't buy it.
Sold my Piaggio NRG for £650 last night. To be honest, I think I priced it too cheap. My Phone was going beserk with people wanting to view it, and it was only up for sale for 2 days! Hey ho, I'm happy with the price I got and it's gone to a good owner.
The funds are now going towards getting my Honda back on the road, ready for when I move to Ireland in a month. The beauty of moving to Ireland, is that with my CBT License, I can ride any Bike I like over there, providing it is limited to 33bhp but who bothers with those?
CBT is, if it follows the same law which I believe it would, is anything up to 125cc with no more than 15bhp if you're 17, or 50cc and 30mph if you're 16.
Alot of people.
Of all the bikes you can pick, you pick the heaviest, most underpowered, and one of the oldest bikes you could find. Not to mention that a whole manner of bikes (including my old Street Triple R) could be restricted to 33bhp if you so desired.
If you read my post properly, you would of noticed I said I am moving to Ireland. In Ireland, my CBT License is Equivalent to an Irish Provisional Motorcycle License. With an Irish Provisional Motorcycle Licence, you can ride ANY Motorcycle of ANY CC, providing it is restricted to 33bhp, which I will most likely not bother fitting.
Try not to over exaggerate too much Jamie....
And I would not pick a Striple R, due to the fact they are ugly as sin (In my opinion of course.) and I do not have the funds to purchase one, unless I get it on Finance, which is something only stupid people do.
EDIT: Oh, and don't even bother trying to act "high and mighty" if I was to not bother with the restrictor. You didn't either, remember?
Which is what I was implying, I was clarifying the license issue.
And I did read your post properly. You did not imply that the land of lots of butter had different laws and being an Englishman through and through, I would not have known that without googling (which I cba to do).
I did bother with the restrictor on my Z750, (so FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU) and then crashed my bike (because of the lacklustre attitude to throttle it gave me) after which I did not bother with another as the next bike was an SV650s which only made 65bhp in a sort of fluffy and gentle way (much like my fondling). A 600cc 4cyl is not gentle and forgiving in such a way.
And I also didn't bother restricting future bikes because I had enough experience, from motorcross and riding a little zingy 125cc twostroke, to know roughly how much power the rear tyre could take before spitting me into a bush, how quickly it would accelerate, and also actually understanding the physics involved when riding a motorcycle (eg how the tyre grips and why you can't steer when you use the front brake).
I would not, as you've done, jump from a little 50cc moped (or similar) to a geared bike with about 75 angry Japanese bhp at the back wheel. That's asking for trouble. Also unlike England, where if you were pulled over riding on an incorrect license, they would take you to the local dyno centre, find it's making more than said 33bhp, take your license away and throw you in jail, these Irish folk would simply pull out an MP5 and shoot you in the bumhole (and that hurts!!!!!!!!!!), and then the face.
The 1993 CBR600 is far from the latest tech out there (even the 1998-onwards bikes are a huge improvement) and many will have been crashed or used as courier bikes, also will come with knackered suspension and running gear (brakes/chains&sprockets etc) not to mention wheel bearings, master cylinder seals, corrosion on the linkages - so you may very well end up spending the original purchase price on getting to go, stop and turn like it would have done in 1993. Then there's the small 10 year leap forward to 2003 where alot of bikes really came alive.
I know you may not have much money (to spend on a bike that is.....) but there are so many nice mid 90's sports bikes you could buy (and restrict) for around £750. An old Thundercat springs to mind...plus they're basically the same engine as the Fazer I had which had 58,000 miles on it and sounded sweet as a nut.
And while you're entitled to thnk the old Triumph is ugly (everyone I met liked it, you're actually the first to say it's ugly...well done!), I am intruiged to find out why you think using finance to purchase a vehicle (so thus presumably a kitchen, or a house...) is stupid?
We aren't all completely minted like you. Many of us don't have £1000's of pounds sat in a bank account (whether earnt or inherited!), where as most of us could spare a couple of hundred quid each month. And while you could say "Aha, you could save for it", say I save up the equivalent finance payments (£201.42 if you must know) up to buy the bike in the same spec (£8793.91 before the £250 purchase price increase and VAT rise) then it would take not far off 5 years, by which time something completely different has come along and thus the cycle starts again. You'd never buy anything!!!
My mate has recently built a Suzuki GSX-R 750 SRAD, but its a trike, and not your usual solid rear axled (and hugely unstable) thing, this has a proper independent rear suspension system which he has worked on through trial and error for years and years and is his own design, which allows you to lean it into corners and the rear wheels stay planted to the road, this thing can drift sideways round sweeping bends at silly speeds, something that would be impossible and frankly a suicidal thing to attempt on a rigid trike, it really is something quite special.
P.S, specifically, it is the CBR600F (My Dad had one when I was a kid, exactly like the one below. I loved it.) that I want to go for, in this paint scheme...
These are the only pics i can find of it, plus this was when it had those 18" rims on it, it has black 17's now, and yeah, thats my *possible* new other half sat on it too, if all goes well, although thats a crap pic of her, she was severely hungover that morning lol.
Two things, firstly NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM PISTONHEADS. It's a codeword for "Thrashed" especially when it comes to older things.
Secondly, they put out 100hp (at the crank) when new. Many moons have passed and much wear has taken place so 75bhp is probably what's actually getting to the wheels.
And nice Dan, certainly interesting. Funny how you get sidetracked onto your next lady friend..
There was a big car show meet up type thing in newmarket last night, plus a film crew and people with big cameras from something called ArtWarEntertainment LTD taking photos and stuff there as well, plus a proper little set area made on one of the other levels with screens and lighting to do some proper photography, so i got hold of ian and he bought the 750 i posted earlier in the thread, while his mate brought the gxsf600 one that he built last year.
Rode about a bit, a few people took pics, came over and had a chat to him about them and stuff, then his mate left, and soon after that the people running the shoot started getting the cars they wanted for their shots taken upstairs to be properly photographed, so he did a few ups and downs on it, some small drifts, one big rolling burnout etc, then a few minuted later they come got him and says we want the trike in the shoot, bring it up whenever your ready, but the sickening part being that the big rolling burnout that he did had completely toasted the clutch, it wouldnt even pull away it was that fried, so no piccys and a recovery truck to come fetch it, but at least they are interested in it.
