ive been trying to get frap's 3.3.3 to work with lfs
but any suggestions ive found on google dont work :/

What sort of drive(s) are you trying to capture full size video @ 29.997 fps on? It takes a lot of I/O bandwidth to do that...

Also look for a tutorials main idea is you slow down replay 2, 3 times and then record it later you speed it up in video editing software.

I dunno how old your HDD has to be for 30 MB/s to be "alot of I/O", even USB 2.0 external HDD's manage that (not talking about 3.0).

203 mbit/s = ~25 MB/s, but for 1080p it'd be 30 MB/s. Due to Fraps applying no compression, bitrate is same for any kinds of video data, too.

Perhaps you have "Force lossless RGB capture" enabled? It's kinda useless, to be honest, as most encoders (Xvid, x264) output YUV content anyways.

You're right, I hadn't noticed the OP had disabled that.

Depends on how good your CPU is, (I think ram matters. )

So! Half size, 75.20 FPS Uncheck sound if you are really hurting.

Works for me.. Should work for most computers, I have my FPS set at 180.5

I rarely lag. But another thing with fraps is to defrag first, Before heavy recording, Make sure your hard drive temperatures are cool (Otherwise it bottlenecks and stutters) And you should be fine.

No computer expert here, But what all is your specs?

I would say that slowing the recording down doesn't do anything, I tried it once. If we are talking about people with Sony Vegas, It helps, But something like Windows movie maker it just fails.. Hard. It puts more strain on your hard drive, You're recording 3 - 2 times longer than you should, Which puts 3x load on your hard drive, Plus with how much space fraps takes on full size? Please.. Forget about it.

I always thought it was better to match your in-game fps with the capture fps, ie cap LFS to 30fps, so that you capture every frame.

And HDD speed will certainly be a factor, given the amount of data to be written. Although maybe a large amount of RAM used as a cache would also help.

If it's just a HDD throughput that slowes you down, you might consider creating a RamDisk to save your records to RAM first. Of course you need a lot of RAM to make any use of this, at least 8 GB if you plan to record some longer vids...
