I watch too many movies, all I could think of was "Live Free or Die Hard".
TBH i don't think the FBI would shutdown pages like that. Like displaying a screen that the site got shut down. My bet is on script kiddies too

Quote from RasmusL :All this bullshit about money laundering. It's about the same as G.W. Bush said when they invaded Iraq.

The real reason is probably that USA is eliminating their competition.
They legalize gambling (where the state earns the money) just days before closing all major poker sites.

That was one district. Not even a state. They wouldn't care to shut down the sites for DC's sake, no one actually cares about DC itself
i wonder if they really go out loud about this.

I think this loses something in translation?
who goes 'out loud'?

It's so corrupt, they always claim that someone did something illegal when it's for their own interest. Julian Assange is another great example; oh no he leaked secret documents, let's arrest him for rape!

Actually, nobody could give a rat's tail about what the laws are in DC. DC is entirely separate legaly from the rest of the US. The US government would receive almost zero benefits from the legalization of gambling in DC even if that was the only place in America where there was a casino.

I don't think there's any doubt in anybody's mind that the US government is corrutpt though. The FBI especialy.
Quote from Cornys :I don't think there's any doubt in anybody's mind that the US government is corrutpt though.

I don't think there's any doubt that there is some corruption in every government. Power breeds corruption and abuse.
I was playing Poker on FullTiltPoker have still about 36$ on my account. Shame that the poker sites were closed but meh I don't care that much.
Quote from PMD9409 :Fun part is going to see whether people will be getting the money left in their accounts back. This should be fun to watch.

Never happen, this is how the US will pay off debt. Next up, PayPal and Facebook.
pokerstars have already moved their site to .eu... i can't see the fbi seizing that one without causing some sort of international incident.
pokerstars seem to use .ee (directed me there when i put eu in the end), licensed by estonian laws and triobet is still as a .com.

I wouldn't mind the Facebook bit, but let me get my money from PayPal first.

exactly how is this going to work?
Quote from RiseAgainstMe! :exactly how is this going to work?

This case will generate at least 3bn for the US gov't. The more sites/bank accounts they seize the more revenue they can generate to go towards the 170trillion debt. Facebook is worth a 30billion at least, if they seize Facebook, that is even more revenue.

lol, getting a bit into Racer X territory here.

You're forgetting if they seize FB there'll be a huge PR backlash

When you're rich, you can do whatever you like. Who cares if the public isn't happy, you're rolling around in a swimming pool full of $100 notes.

Contradicting yourself a bit there.

RacerX needs to clear all this up, we obviously don't know conspiracies good enough to create our own.

this is so far out there it's past Racer X territory. It doesn't even make sense on any level.

first off, 30 billion is ~0.000176470588% of 170 trillion. yeah, that's gonna do a whole lot

also, how is the US government even supposedly getting this money from the seizing? From the court case of tax evasion? Then that is supposed to be their money anyways, plus fines for breaking the ****ing law. IRS and FBI won't take anyone down until they are very sure they have a winnable case.

how could they seize FB? FB would have to be demonstrably breaking laws

Notice the use of the word "when", as in when they shut down enough sites and seize their cash they can roll around in a pool full of money.

Nah, it works for China, shut down anything you feel like and take their money. When you consider they have the fastest growing economy and are the greatest country when it comes to capitalism (who'd have though "communists" could pull that off?). Clearly we all have a lesson to learn from China.

only 3.21111x10^17 sites to go then!

China's economy is growing so fast because of their massive resources. As is India's. That has absolutely no bearing on whether they shut down websites or not

y u trollin?
