Just watching on remote so maybe I missed something but why did almost half the field get DTs?

The ineX drivers all got DT's because Simon Cattell failed HOPELESSLY and forgot to post their skins on time, blaming it on the fact he didn't have a sticky note to hand to write down that he had offered to do it. Good old Simon "Two Teams at once" Cattell.
