Tuning became popular, Porsches "could be" killed by a Civic (/me says BS, but FnF told em so!), so EA went to the masses, and the masses are probably now trying to drift using only the handbrake
Altho i have a new system, every lunchtime i have an LFS lan party at school, and i always have a pc free for those "I can drive ma whacked out ride well good" retards ready to get a thrashin!
As I said I have respect for my computer and refuse to put known bugridden kiddie crap on it, I'm not into the fast & furious ricer world . That's all and unrealistic speeds and handling of NFS etc, also all these types of games put a lot of unneccessary spyware or ad ware on the system, ( links to EA etc etc ) LFS does not
From what i saw while others have played it, it is all eye candy, the cars don't match the original in terms of speed or handling, and it doesn't even support a wheel properly? Come on now?
It is suitable for 12 to15 yrs olds that have no cars of their own, prolly never driven a real car, and want to 'Pretend' they own a badly blinged brand name car, and brag to a bunch of mates that they drove a certain car at 220 MPH yeah yeah sorry guys.
I prefer LFS and will not put any other racing type car game on my systems. If I wanted to play the NFS type arcade games I'd buy an old xbox etc
hell, i just watched the NFS:Carbon trailer. I already didn't want it but the trailer looked like the fast and the furious. Need for Speed just fell into a slump.
But the difference is that LFS tries to be realistic, wich you can't really say about need for speed, because if they wanted, it would have been a lot more realistic, but they probably just didn't want to make it realistic. It is and always will be an arcade racer.
..for everyone that hates the crap out of NFSU to NFS Carbon
you people just dont know what games are then
they are made so you have "fun" and usually have to do with things that cant be done in life, no one ever said it had to be real, it is fun if you've never played it, but im sure everyone here that hates it wont even try the game just because its "unreal" OH NO!!
give it a break, its a fun game if you've ever played it, nowhere does it ever say it tries to recreate physics.. nowhere; for crying out loud it even says these cars do not handle like this in life on the loadup page
They were fun for a while, but i got bored of the same easy races in Underground 2. And my most wanted disk got messed up so that right before the last race my game froze and i couldn't save so i tried it 5 times and it didnt work. That pissed me off a lot. I have to say, if i was into arcade games they would be fun. And if my most wanted had worked i would have beat it. Just that the new 1 anooys me by looking like a copy of FNF3.
Yea, i hate it when ppl are like "check out my Miata, it goes 210mph! I'm gonna do that to my real car!"
after seeing that trailer, looks like there is gonna be some touge uphill and downhill races..
... meaning it will make great fun in 2 player mode
that.. and it also means there is going to be a huge mountain lol, also.. it looks like the streets may actually be drivable unlike the ones in NFSU2 :S, those are scary streets to drive around, even when going slow its ... scary on the mountain in that game, those turns are extremely sharp
there's this cheat, right? for nfsmw? where you set it so that when you press a key it goes instantly at a predefined speed... i set it to something ridiculous like 500mph... and it has another thing where you press another key and the car just *stops* on a dime...
and it is SO FUN... i let any car come in front of me and i hit the two buttons in succession and the other car goes into orbit LOL LOL LOL
and we can say it never will be cause its impossible to be perfect or the time worn argument that LFS isn't finished but still an Alpha et al. whatever. I choose not to play car based games! GAMES being the keyword here as I have found exactly what I want in a car race sim called LFS. @ XCnuse, I know what a game is mate having played them right back in the 1st days of b&w ping pong stuff and actually wrote some pretty good stuff in blitz basic for my amiga days etc Remember the Amiga king of computer based games there for some time?as well as quite a good paint and video rendering machine for its time ( PCs only had CGA video at that time (16 colours) the amiga was 12 bit colour or 4096 colours )
But to me as MY personal opinion, LFS is a sim, not a traditional genre game, it requires serious forethought to setup, balanced tyre selections and the kinda stuff that has a real bearing on how the car behaves. Ppl who play NFS games says this is not how NFS works?
I know I should put it (NFS:U) on, play it, test it, form and opinion based on useage, but I just know it won't be within coo ee of LFS for me so it won't happen :subject closed:
@ShannonN very true...yes im 15 yes i used to brag about my car goin at 234 mph @ everyone else and judging by my name u think im Rice do u not? i ust like the style of the underground series fnf carbon is just initial D on crack don't worry people(except for the american cars on touge *sweating and saying to self - eew*) the style is whut attracts me t these need for speed games( aren't you forgetting the new need for speed:tokyo coming out LOOL it sux don't discuss that here seriously...and to the style there should be no barriors in terms of what you HAVE to put on your car we should be able to drive around sleepers all day and others who like style could do as they please (drive around all day with all show no go - or drive around all day with show and more go than you) need for speed is teh suxor now too much initial D for j0O..now for fnf...it isn't out yet dudes and dudets but carbon won't suck i garante it if it still sux take away my cookie :/...these games i comented on were liked alot by me when hot persuit 2 had come out not to long ago to be followed by the underground series...then i found out about LFS 8| those games were well pwnt although since im demo i have but a mere pocket rocket to drift with damn i love my XRT muhahahahhahahahahahahaaa...(ps im sleepy and have no idea what the heck i jsut wrote)
@shannonn, oh i know that, and im pretty postive EA isn't trying to make NFS series realistic, or even go back towards a simulation aspect; for one reason... sales.
Take a look at LFS's community right now, what it is, somewhere around ~10,000 people ish, where only about 600 play each day at max time of day; thats why EA wants it to be unreal, is so it appeals to the players of the game so.. when your bad, in games that are unreal like NFS's, then you can be good in the game whether you suck or not.. also because it will sell to millions rather than thousands
yea, i can bet at least 20% of people bought NFSMW and NFSU2 because of the cool cars, pimping, and of course the nawz. Even if it isn't real it destroys the future by making people think that their car is going to be like that.
and for everyone out there, putting bodykits and hoods and roof scoops and big spoilers... doesnt look bad
if i could take a picture of my corvette C6 in most wanted, i promise you guys would drool, its the coolest looking car i've ever seen (if it was real of course)
its even better looking than the C6R; has that nice race touch, and a good muscle look too
yea, i made all my nfs cars race cars. But it can be really expensive for those things. Tony Stewart got a Gallardo and had chrome wheels that where 15000dollars a piece put on it.
well for my 2 cents, it always takes a good balance for a good looking car with a fair amount of engine tuning.
This way you can almost have any car look good *ducks*
but the first thing i'm going to change on my car (if i can effort it in this life) will be BETTER brakes for my mx-5 (level 2 model, not the newest), as i set SAFETY FIRST, the brakes will be... well, you know already.
after that, (and a long time for learning the habbits of that car) would be a bit of engine tuning (a tbo, maybee...)
<<< let's toughts fly
yes, it's a nfs screenie, so what? i'm not that good im mesh-surgery, so i had to use that...
Fun to drive ridiculous speeds in my Skyline through gas stations. It was fun! Just flying through the whole track, trying to keep the car on the road, flying off the jumps. Of course it's not realistic, but it's FUN.
I play FPSs, right? and others do to... but, have you seen anyone, in reality, running around with guns in their belts, looking for ammo under tables and raiding the local drug store for medikits/healthpacks?
no, you haven't.
So, why do people try to make their means of transportation look like they make them in a movie or a game? Even if you do the occasional trackday, there's no point for such ridiculous visual modifications...
Just watched the Tokyo Shit last night and I have to admit it was easilly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Following the law of sequels, both series (NFS, F&F) are getting worse and worse, but NFS is better entertainment. (that hurts. 'nfs' and 'better' in a same sentence.)
