The whole charm, and a fair proportion of the joke of the spiderman memes is how utterly childish they are. The humour comes from what Spiderman - a famous and respected Superhero - traditionally represents, juxtaposed against the farcically puerile situation into which he is placed by the context of the caption.

Never read the comic nor watched cartoons of it, so i don't know the 'history' behind it all.. just don't see the 'deeper' joke beside the obvious childlish ones.

if so it would make them a bit more funny to me, most seem like they were created for the sole purpose to have that caption.
