It's a relatively simple slow paced browser based game where you basically rule a country in any way you wish. I just registered yesterday and it seems like fun

Yeah, a lot of it happens on the forums without any real consequences.

What got me interested is that regardless of its simplicity it seems to have some players who have played it quite long. It also takes extremely little time.

Is this something like eRepublic?

This looks more like a single player focused thing. Haven't really played erepublic but this one is far slower paced and doesn't have wars and much of any other direct contact with other players.
