I know they shift faster, and in LFS it would be an advantage, just as it is in real life. The guy I know loses 1 second per lap just because he doesn't have a sequential shifter
You can still shift a "h-gate car" with your sequential stick. But in contrary to a sequential-gearbox car your pulling of the lever will make the car go into neutral and then into the next gear, just like it does now (very fast). The sequential-gearbox cars will not have this 0.2 sec delay anymore and will go right into next gear.
So for you nothing changes. XRR and FXR will just shift a tad bit faster, making the cars more equal.
And no hardware will make anyone faster here.
No, it's about the gearBOX, not about the shifting itself... You won't need a shifter, just use sequential shifting like you do now, it's just that the gearbox in the car is a manual one...
I dont think this has been mentioned before but has there been any Word from Scawen regarding driving Aids such as Automatic Clutch and how it will be handled once the Clutch Physics get better? For example if someone uses Sequential Shifting in a Car that is supposed to be shifted with an H-Shifter, will his shifting Method be as fast or faster than the right Shifting method of that car?
Using any Driving Aids such as Automatic Clutch or using Sequential Shifting in a H-Shiter type car should be a little bit slower than normal shifting technique of the car.
In NR2003 for example, using Automatic Shifting will cost you a couple of tenths of a second with every shift. That is so that driving Aids users do not have an Advantage over Simulation Mode drivers.
To be honest I never knew it was possible without un-synchronised gear boxes. With his really old Land Rover (It had a hand crank starter at the front) he used to go without out using the clutch.
