Bryan Heitkotter who is an iracer too and won the US gt academy was interviewed during the eurosport lemans coverage. Lucas Ordonez is the guy who won it in 2008 and races in lmp2 class and was once interviewed as a driver during the coverage I think.

Okay, I was thinking of Lucas, didn't know Bryan was also interviewed. He's been around for ages (Bryan has), so he deserves to get some form of real chance.

I think he (Ordonez) was interviewed more than once, if not during the race then at least during the practice sessions.

There was also that commercial playing on almost every other ad break.

And the women on Eurosport would not shut up about him and this whole GT Academy thing. The whole 24h...

Jann will now begin an intensive Driver Development Programme and compete in a number of UK national races to enable him to qualify for an International race licence. In January, 2012 he will line up on the grid of the Dubai 24 Hour race in a Nissan 370Z GT4 car – the ultimate prize in what has become the ultimate racing competition since its inception in 2008.

Thibault Lacombe (FRA), Carlos Murillo (ESP) and Danilo Bordino (ITA) finished in that order behind Jann in both the race and the overall competition. These four had been selected earlier in the day by Irvine for the final race challenge. Sascha Meyenborg (DEU) and Thomas Arends (NED) had been eliminated after their first taste of driving a real GT4 race car around Silverstone’s Stowe Circuit.

Correct. He now races in iRacing (when he has time ). Also made the Dutch Finals for GT Academy last year.

Anyone making an attempt this time around?. Is it true you have to have a copy of GT6 so that you can take part?

I have GT6 and the icon for the academy is located in the main menu screen. Previously it was a separate download.
I can't tell you if it's in playstation store if you don't own GT6.
