I hope they poorly store the people who paid to watch/listen to that ridiculous video. Then YT can get hacked (like all the other corps lately) and we have lynch mobs for all the people who paid for it.

Expected this long ago, tbh. The cost to run YouTube far exceeds advertising revenue, last I heard. Either they charge or it'll get closed down. We all like things for free but someone has to foot the bill.

Again, I think it all depends on how this whole idea develops.

We got to remember that YouTube are simply adding this feature, and is not forcing it on all popular videos. The owner of the video has an option to either turn this renting service on, or disable it all together for his videos. Even if he chooses to enable it, the money goes to him and does not reach YouTube - not all of it anyway.

Having said that though, I would never pay to watch someone like "freddiew". Not going to happen.
