The online racing simulator
when change from auto to manual it stays in auto even though it says manual
just a little thing which happens now n then is i change from auto gears to manual while stopped it will say its changed to manual but when driving off it will be changing the gears as if still in auto
Are you using LFS Strobe or another program using the G letter. If you are and it is on/enabled then that might be the source of the problem.
There indeed is this bug, that when you change gear setting while someone is connecting and you press escape, It will confirm a change, but it will be bugged.

Going from Auto to Shifter or Shifter to auto (1 of the 2) will make you have car which will not stall (because it's auto) won't shift until you shift (shifter) which will cut-off fuel when near max rpm. (auto wants to change gear).

It's actually pretty nice to try it some time, but it is a bug.

thanks m8 what your saying sounds spot on,coming to think of it now the majority of the time if not every time it happens is when ive just starting to leave the pits and someoneconnects to the server, its not been a major problem, just an odd race that i drive auto instead of manual,

thankyou for taking the time to post,i appreciate it dude
and thanks killer beast i dont use lfs strobe or have anything mapped to the G key, thanks for helping though, greatly appreciated.good to see people willing to help others
It's probably a bug where it does update the gear change controls/configuration, but fails to update the clutch control because of interference (a guest connecting).

Maybe I'll try to make a replay of it.

EDIT:

it seems to show up REALLY vague in multiplayer replay, you can barely see the bug.

But! when you are experiencing it, it's far more obvious.

It's VERY reproducable: (good to see on an XRT for example)
1. Get into a car and choose automatic gearbox
2. wait for a guest to connect
3. while a guest is connecting, open the option menu, choose shifter gearbox and press escape until the menu is gone.
4. If done right, the guest hasn't connected yet.
5. You're now having the bugged gearbox.

Rev till the limiter in first gear, shift to 5th and DO NOT PRESS A THING, it will want to shift back, but it can't because your shifter overrides the automatic downshift.
or
Rev till the limiter in first or second gear, it will shift to neutral and back to the gear you were in, it won't shift up, because your shifter overrides the automatic upshift.

This is about it.

Maybe it works the other way around too (shifter to auto) but I haven't tested it.

I have attached a replay which vaguely shows the problem)
Just at the start of the straight (at 2:42) when it's revving steadily on 3.5K revs, is more or less what happens.
The speed will stay the same or even increase, while in the MPR it looks like you aren't pressing anything.

Also, you can shift without pressing the clutch that way.

NOTE: this is in the 0.6B patch (which seems logical, since there was nothing changed to connecting players or options)

EDIT: as said earlier, this is a VERY VERY minor bug, which has near to no influence or advantage on the game, but maybe the replay should OOS, because of acceleration (or lack of deceleration) without pressing anything (3.5K revs continuously)
