Dedicated host [SOLVED]
Hey all Sorry if this has been asked people but i cant find the answer i want.

Was hosting a server yesterday via the LFS game. Was running smooth with 11 people in 800 object no issue. set to 500kb upload. While that was running i got the DED host and sorting out all of my CFG file + got the Race insim working with a few tweaks.

But when i knocked the lfs host off and started up the DED host with insim. I check the CFG file and noticed it said the server was only running at 128kb and 3 people joined of witch one looked a bit laggy.

Can anyone help. My Down speed is 48-50mbs & my Up is 4.5-5mbs. far as i was aware i would be easily run a server on 256 or 350kb for 20ish racers with out a issue. But i have been told i need to use someone like 500 servers. and well for what i want im not willing pay the price.

The ded host is running on a Linux server.

Anyway i can up the bandwidth ?

Thanks all
Make sure you have this in cfg.txt

Upload Bandwidth 1024
Packs Per Sec 6

If your connection can handle it, these settings should give you the best smoothness. You might also want to check if you have the latest stable WINE (1.2.3) installed.

yeh i had my packet on 5 but changed to 6.

As for the bandwidth this is what i was saying. in the CFG file it gives no option to pic a max Bandwidth speed :-(
Think you might be checking the wrong cfg file. See pic...

yeh thats the one i have tried to change before and saved but every time i open it it says 128 again lol :-(
Hmmm, you sure you have the dedi server closed before you edit the cfg file? You sure you saved the cfg file after editing? Only things I can think of.

I just tested this, if you edit the cfg file while the dedi server is running and save it, then close the server and start it again, the changes you made in the cfg file will return to what they were before editing. So, close the dedi server, edit what you want in the correct cfg file and it shouldn't change back.
yes thanks just done that and it worked lmao !!!! what a plonker lol

Thanks
