Politicians do this all the time, they know the news are just going to condense it down to a 10 second sound bite anyway, so they want to make sure they get their message across. Still, it is extremely embarrassing to watch. I used to not mind Ed Milliband, but at a time when the UK really needs a strong opposition, I don't think he's doing a good job at all. It's shit like this that makes me vote SNP.

What could a strong opposition actually do? It's political suicide. It's probably a blessing in disguise for Ed's opponents within the Labour party. Labour practically bankrupted the country, and then employed dumb-ass Keynesian economics (for which the Yanks are now realising might not have been the best idea) to push us further in the shithole.

Even the strongest Labour leader wouldn't be able to convince the nation that somehow they would have done any better, if anything had they been re-elected the debt downgrade many agencies where preparing to give the UK would have sealed our fate. In fact we would have seen even greater turmoil than we are now witnessing.

So, if you are left-leaning, then Ed is a good stop-gap before you can actually have a viable candidate for the future.
