A few issues with running LFS in WINE. [SOLVED]
So I have LFS running in WINE 1.2.2 for the first ever. (Before I wasn't able to get it working), now however I'm at the first time setup process, however there is a few issues. My main one being, there is no mouse functionality, so I can't get past the setup process. Another issue I have is, the window size. My laptop has a max resolution of 1376x768, and I have a second monitor which has a max resolution of 1920x1080, however I use it in a 1370x768 resolution. However, LFS only starts up on laptop, but it looks like it's squished in a 4:3 aspect ratio, if you take a look at the screenshot below you'll see what I mean.

I'm also not able to put it into Window mode using the shift+f4 trick

If anyone has been able to get past this, would you be ever-so-kind and help me please?
Are you sure you have the right resolution set in Options->Screen? Also checking "Automatically capture the mouse in fullscreen windows" in winecfg->Graphics could resolve the mouse issue.
I have LFS running flawlessly here with WINE 1.3.27 so I certainly can be done. I wonder if Unity can be responsible for some of your problems, perhaps you can try forcing Unity 2D only, if nothing else I guess it'd help the performance a bit.

Oh right, I'll give that a shot see if it works. Will report back soon.

Dude! It totally worked! Thanks! I haven't forced Unity 2D, but I'm getting anything from 26-37FPS. and when I'm still, up into the 70's. I'll go talk to one of my friends, see how I can force Unity 2D just for WINE. Before I do go though, with LFS in windows I had to run Logitech's Game Profiler in order for my DFGT to use at least 720*. I notice that the same thing happens in windows if I don't have profiler running. Is there a native program which runs in Natty that's equivelent to Profiler? Because without it I only get 90*

Can anyone help with the DFGT issue?
Unfortunately the only way how to get the DFGT working properly is to manually patch the kernel, the patches will hopefully make it into Kernel 3.2.
Alternatively you can use the latest version of LTWheelConf (forum thread here) to set range and get separated throttle/brake axes(not sure about the latter), but you won't have any FF like that.

BTW what was it that got LFS working? My bet is that you just had set some weird resolution.

I installed Play On Linux a while ago, (Basically a cross-over for windows games) but before I had installed it, I installed LFS way before it, and it just wouldn't start. Then yesterday I decided to give LFS a shot again because I was sick of having to go and borrow my wee brothers laptop to play it xD. So I must have been missing some windows files I guess. I ticked "Emulate a desktop" & the "allow program to control windows" or something like that as well in WINE. Now after a few tweaks with the graphic/screens settings I'm getting at least 40FPS. Not bad for running on WINE, and FFB won't matter just now seems to pull to the left for a strange reason :S so I just disabled it.
FFB has been fixed in WINE 1.3.19 or so, Ubuntu has a PPA with the 1.3 versions of WINE.

I may upgrade later on tonight then. Btw how do I get this LTWheelConfig working? I'm not that great at knowing how to unpack packages. I downloaded the .tar.gz (& the .zip just incase). I've been reading the other thread... it makes somewhat no sense to me. XD

EDIT: If it makes any difference I'm on kernel 2.6.38-11.
You unpack the archive, CD to the directory, run "make", then "./ltwheelconf -w DFGT -n". That should give you fully working DFGT with 900 deg range.

Thank you very much!
