MS charity, well any charity helping people in critical situations, like deseases, poverty or enviromental protection and so on, is important but it always is a very personal decision and cannot be forced. But either way, if you donate or not, it both is selfish. Why do you donate? Because you feel good afterwards. Why do you not donate? Because you can spend money on other stuff which makes you feel good.
Also, speaking to a large crowd saying that help is needed results either in a large wave of support, or in silent idleness. It is like in a theatre, if there are not enough people start to applaud, there won't be standing ovations. Chatting personally to people results in the elimination of the group dynamics.
