Did his life flash by?
Sad news.

Jobs had his faults, but he made very great and positive influences in the computer industry, and will be missed.

Quote from Electrik Kar :I think people love Apple because it fashionised tech geekery. It's just a computer for fs.

That's partly true. But there are others who appreciate the shift in the bigger picture. Transforming computers from corporate mainframes into consumer desktops, and later into portable devices, was driven largely by the efforts of Jobs and Apple - both from a business perspective and technologically.

Agreed with this.

Although it might be overly glorified but there are truths in it, never a fan of Apple Products but without them the competition wouldn't have sped up.
Quote from Electrik Kar : The last years of Apple show Capitalism at its worst... .

where's bullshit man when u need him!??

yeah, and communist/socialist countries can boast brilliant working conditions.... typical childish anti-capitalist bollocks on this forum as per usual. Feels like your in some A-Level sociology class sometimes on here.

Apple wasn't a perfect company but it enhanced the lives of millions around the world. this can't be argued. Steve Jobs RIP
To be fair Apple computers are really nice to use these days. Especially if you need *nix on the desktop for whatever reason, it's a much nicer experience than, say, Ubuntu.

We've fired up the office's old Mac Classic today for a bit of retro nonsense, I'd forgotten the 1993 version of Clarisworks could do outlined fonts. My current version of Pages can't do that.

The thing is dog slow though. 4Mb of RAM and 900k is chewed up by system 7.

Dude was a multi billionaire... if there was someone in business who could have made a difference in the conditions of the average tech worker, it was him. Anyway, it's extremely inappropriate to be talking trash about someone on the day of their death, so I'll just stop. Sorry to be not feeling the love...

Btw, did you hear the news on Facebook? Steve Jobs has just died.
And so starts Dustin's 12 months of mourning.
I made my first attempt @ programming/impressing on an Apple BBC. (oops it was an Acorn)

RIP - S.Jobs
Rest iPeace.

That would be an Acorn, not an Apple.
Quote from Electrik Kar :Jobs' refusal to get into philanthropy (when you have that much money and you're not a philanthropist, there is something seriously wrong with your values)

Wait.. WTF. It was his money and he could do whatever he want with it. That is his choice to give or not to give any money for charity.
Quote from Agniz :It was his money and he could do whatever he want with it.

Equally, it's his opinion and he can do whatever he wants with it.

If you saw someone lighting cigars with $100 bills would you just think 'It's his money, good for him!' or 'This man appears to be a total dickhead'.
Steve blobbs is finally gone, whoop-a-dee-doo

its sad i guess, but all his fake fans crawling out of the woodwork really does my tits in
Quote from thisnameistaken :Equally, it's his opinion and he can do whatever he wants with it.

I would not care, as I said it's his money. Total dickhead - why? All what he earned is his property and he can use 100$ bills as a toilet paper if he want to. I would better build a house entire of gold instead of giving money for poor africans or smth.

If one day you get rich I'll like to see how you use your money.
Quote from JJ72 :If one day you get rich I'll like to see how you use your money.

It's very unlikely that I would become rich because I have no desire to. The rich people I know are all driven to be rich people, probably above all else.

A company that I am one of three directors and shareholders of, has given a considerable proportion of its profits to charities over the last 10 years. That's money that would otherwise have been received as dividends by me and my two partners. I actually take home less than the national average wage.

That's actually good to hear, to not have to worry about personal income is already a form of being rich imo, mentally.

That's what governments do on a regular basis and every screams "hurrahhh" lol

well... duh
Jobs also has a daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs (born 1978), from his relationship with Bay Area painter Chrisann Brennan.[89] She briefly raised their daughter on welfare when Jobs denied paternity by claiming he was sterile

Steve who...?
Do you think his life flashed before his eyes, or he just saw a little picture of blue lego brick instead?
