Shoudn't GTR cars be a bit quicker?
Hi! I wanted to state that shouldn't the GTR cars be bit quicker. I mean, I thought about it for a while now. The reason why I came up with this conclusion is because I thought that since the XRT has around 240 HP and the XRR has 490, thats almost double the amount of power. I then thought about top speeds. The XRT's top speed is around 220 Km/h so, since the XRR has double the power, shouldn't it reach 280-290 Km/h?. I know 340 would be too extreme since even the FIA GT cars don't reach those kind of speeds. What do you think?

+1

I agree because the don't seem quick enough and it would be nice if we could have more power and at the same time, more traction to go along with it.

There may be one con of this - They cannot be made too much quicker otherwise they will be too much like the speed of the BF1
Not right:

If u use as example the 550GTS from GTR game, with 620 (or more) bhp, usually it reach not more then 280-290 km\h

The GT2 class cars, like 360GTC (450 460 bhp), that is the most similar to LFS's gtr class ones, usually doesn't go more then 255/265 kmh.

So, imho is realistic.

If we want to be precise, isn't realistic the name, GTR class cars should much more powefull (around 550/650 bhp).

It should be called GT-R2 class (because GT2 i think is a name owned by Fia GT), and an eventually GT car with 600 bhp should be added in a class called GT-R1.
It's been said that the FZ50GTR is compareable in specs to the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. (or was it the RS?) In either case, they are slower cars than you're thinking of. I have to admit, by the size of the cars physically, they look more like the GT1 cars in ALMS/LMES, but spec wise, they compare to the GT2 class, or to the Speed GT World Challenge series.

They're not wrong, they just look bigger than the class they are actually in
Another big thing that limits top speed is areo drag. When I did my SRT track experience they had a stock viper and a competition coupe viper, the comp viper has more HP with racing slicks and areo improvments. Around the corners the comp viper would be considerably faster. Then the strait away's would come and the the stock viper would have the same exact speed.
However lfs doesnt calculate aero drag atm

Whaat? What are the resictances on the wing adjustment screen then? :S I think it counts drag, but doesnt simulate undertray for example.

And I would say no for making current GTR cars any quicker. Maybe making something more unigue and faster in the future perhaps.
i play on a freinds licensed lfs sometimes and i agree. the xrr is a bit to slow for the amount of power it has. accelaration is just a bit better than xrt which is kinda dumb. think about it, if i had a mondeo, and bought a skyline, what will have more power? skyline, so it should be the same on lfs.

The aero drag that he said was the one made by the general Cx of the car, not only wings.
It isn't simulated because if u crash on something and your car change form it doesnt change any sort of grip if it does not damage suspensions.
The car body creates drag, the wings create drag, varying on the angle of attack of the wing. The undertray creates drag (but ride height / car pitch does not affect drag).

Body damage is only VISIBLE, so does not affect drag. That is the only bit missing, but that's damage physics, not aero physics.
I think the top speed is about realistic for GT cars which are producing a large amount of downforce and therefore drag + the resistance of large slicks. Road cars with well inflated road tires and low drag and a little less power should be easilly as fast when put up against a GT car IRL but if top speed actually meant anything then GP racing would still be being ruled by an Auto Union streamliner

I definatley don't think the GTR class should be sped up and given more grip, they're fast enough and on the verge of a lot of peoples driving ability right now anyway and LFS must avoid falling into the typical race sim trap of taking the fastest imaginable variant of everything, LFS is probably faster than RL just like all other decent sims (although in LFS it's hard to tell) because of all the other factors that aren't accounted for (yet ).
The GTR cars feel like they have too much downforce for their power levels, like a slot car almost.

I'd like to see something that is more on the edge, like a vintage GT40 or a modern stock car. Something with 800+ hp and almost no downforce. Bring back the concept of throttle control.
