It´s actually spelt "иш" in russian. How you "translate" it is up to you. I´ve seen many different versions. Most common are Iz and Iž.
The one´s made in Moscow were called "Moskvich" and the one´s made in ....(I can´t remember where) were called "Iž". But the car made was the same in both places. Atleast I think it was like that.
