I waited for a long time to type my own languages' characters in chat menu. Why can't i use " ı ğ ş " for exemple.

There are many characters like these in different languages.

Propably becaus ethe chat uses ASCII instead of Unicode...

hmm... don't know about that one. But I think there is a thread concerning this somewhere burried in the depths of this forum.

Converting from ASCII to Unicode isnt a quick thing to do. It requires doing a fairly large rewrite. It just so happens that during the early, early days of LFS, Scawen didnt use unicode.

i guess the main reason is because unicode characters requires 2 bytes against 1 byte of ascii and maybe even if quite irrilevant, it helps keepping the net-code of multiplayer more optimized...cosidering that sometimes spectators may chat a lot during races, this may be not so irrilevant...i guess...
