Track idea, interest?
Dear LFS Users,

I know there is already a tracks I would like in S3 topic, but I wanted to ask a question to you all, and create a poll.

Myself I would love the idea of having an airport circuit inside LFS.

Basically a recreation of an airport, made into a simple circuit.

Now I would like to know, if any of you would think this is a good/nice idea?

Imagine that you could also test setups on here, and the Devs could maybe make some training/driving lessons in here.

Also nice and fun events/races could be done here with single seaters and the smaller cars.

Please post any heads up, orso, and vote in the poll!

Kind Regards,
Walter
Would be fantastic, but it should be more like Autocross, with possibilty to built layouts.
It´s more fun then.
I also think it should have the possibility to create a nice layout on it. But what must be above all, is a basic track on it, with ideal line, some starting positions. But then without pitstop. So you can set pb's and drive nice races.
What about something like this?

It has a big straight, for possible drag racing. And a round lap for a simple track.

Also inner sections, for possible autocross and driving lessons.

Rocky, tha airport you show us, is way to small, not very good possibilities to make a nice racing-track
I remember the nice fights of the DTM in the beginnings of the 90´s. I´ll take a look for some vids, where you can see this kind of track, which is really impressive and good looking, with high curbs, bumpy starting grounds and that stuff from the old DTM Times

Yes but there's a copyright on that track I guess now that it is on one of the console games.

Sucks
Anyone else got an idea, on a airport to copy/use for this?

Because for example, the Topgear track, at some point crossed itself, so it's unsafe for a real circuit.

Anyone know a good airport on which roads wouldn't need to be crossed?

For example I was digging up some airphoto's of the old Vliegbasis Valkenburg in Netherlands. Since it's been a military base, until 2006 it somehow still is pixelated on most airphoto's.

However, it seems a nice possibility there, to create something.

I've edited the photo with idea's for a possible circuit.

I'm sure there are thousands of them in the world...
If we're converting an airport to a racetrack, it has to be Madeira airport. Look at those elevation changes and scope for multiple configs!

You mean like the one in Top Gear ? cool

Don't want to piss on your bonfire too much, but it's an airport therefore by default has practically non-existent elevation changes and I can't see many configs there

What you want is an airport with multiple runways and a plethora of taxiways inbetween, e.g. Edmonton:

orly?

Look at the passenger travelator/walkway on the right of the photo and how high off the ground the end is compared to where it attaches to the terminal to get an idea of how steep it is. It's hilly as hell and there's loads of twisting, forking access roads around the car-park complex, as well as a bridge that goes under the (massively impressive, supported on pillars) runway and one that goes along the top of the dirt bank behind the runway.

Oh I see, I thought you meant the runway and taxiways.

But yeah, add the access roads e.t.c. then that would be pretty awesome actually, fast sections on the runway and a tight twisty bit
