The online racing simulator
We need to be able to see which gear it's in!
The patch U is great, lots of nice improvements, but, the re-worked dash has a new position for the gear indicator and it is CONSTANTLY blocked by the steering wheel. Can we get a new patch to fix that? The prvious versions were all good and able to see the gear indicator....

get the Momo steering wheel, its a bit smaller
You should learn to drive without the aid of a little light. Drive by ear, man!
why do you have to know what gear you're in? If you accidentally shift down into neutral, its not like it makes that much of a difference. I don't really look at the gear indicator anyway.

great answer !

anyway, try to coun't your gears whilst on the fly...
and yes driving by ear gives you more freedom and contration for aiming at the apex...

?? hmm I never noticed.

Not true, as shown by these pics ...

and a real drifter knows what gear he is in anyway ... revs > Speed
Its very rare I check my gears.

hummm, but your steering wheel is diferent(and u not wearing gloves).
That's because those are different cars (Ie. NOT demo cars.)

You shouldn't have to look to see what gear you are in. If you are driving down the road in a street car, do you need to know what gear you are in? Most street cars don't have a display of the selected gear anyways, you have to look at the position of the shifter to figure it out.

TBH, I never look at the gear I'm in unless I'm trying to teach someone a new course, and I give them a couple pointers on how I drive the course. (Tell what gear I seem to take the corner in, etc.)
Then use virtual guages!
i was talking about momo logo, but anyway, with replys like this:

and this

why not just shut the Improvement Suggestions forum and make S2 final...
if lfs have something "wrong" why not fix-it, or at least sugest to make it better...
Then how about the suggestion of making it more realistic, removing that gear indicator completely?

You really don't need that indicator, with a bit of practice you know when to shift up and down... But for drifting it might be different

I'm all for a more realistic looking dash for the rest... At least the speed-o-meter, should be more readable in KM/H mode. It's just too small to read. And I think knowing your speed is more important (just think of driving in the pitlane with a car without a limiter)

Grrrrrrr those driver models look so out of place.

I like that red and white dash though... I use green and white

You surely know how to add something to a thread don't you?

Having the gear indicator in the demo cars is wrong anyways, whether it be readable or not.
