was wind set on? maybe the intensity of the wind changed in the meanwhile and LFS calculated a new "racing line"

Well it was a server. I am not sure if there was wind. How do I retrieve current wind status? All this happened in the same race. Interesting,

the current wind status is (sadly) only available in the moment when you join the server respectivly when the session starts, but that always is only the momentary wind speed. And also when you start up an mpr it should show the information.

Actually admin should be able to set the speed and direction.
Also players should be able to see that in say F12
