How's the development with these two consoles after 3 years?
I was thinking more and more about christmas present for me, as both of them are cheaper now, but cannot decide, if PS3, XBOX 360, or if i should pump some money into my goddamned shitty PC, which i will have to upgrade later again.

1) Which console has better games? Don't care about the genre. Xbox has Forza, PS3 has Uncharted, but after that i'm lost.

2) Do you think these two have long-ish future (2-3 years) or should i perhaps wait for PS4/XBOX9001 development news?

3) PS3 can act as Bluray player, does XBOX have anything to beat PS3 in this?

For now I will actually invest in a PC, unless you have any exclusives in mind.

1. exclusive aside XBOX generally have better performing cross platform titles.

2. the new gen may come in about 2 years so I'll wait it out, at least wait till there's a price cut for this gen, the console is cheap but the peripherals ain't.

3. Nope, personally I owned a PS3 but the only Blueray disc I can usually find are boring mainstream blockbuster movies, the classics usually don't look mind blowingly HD even on Blueray because of the source material, but it's a handy thing to have.

Consoles are dirt cheap now, at least in normal countries, next gen is at least 2 years away, plus you probably wouldn't buy PS4/new xbox straight away, as there will be no games at the start etc..
I'm super happy with the PS3, but you should check out the games on both platforms and decide what is best for you.

I have both a 360 and a PS3. I say I have both, my 360 broke (the third one to do so) and the fix hasn't worked so it'll be being sold for parts. My PS3 hasn't ever frozen or crashed..ever.

In terms of actual comparison, well it's like apples to oranges. Both have some good exclusive games, perhaps Xbox live is more populated than the PSN but I've never been in a situation, especially on a larger game such as COD or Driver San Francisco where I've been unable to find a game to play. PSN is also free unlike Xbox but I would probably pay for the extra features that XBL has and also the increased numbers.

Therefore there is no "better" console. Anyone who blindly says "yes <this> is better" is a stupid fanboy, unless you've had both you can't really say.

Making the choice today I would probably say that Xbox 360 (a new black slim 250gb one, not the older style ones) would be abetter overall choice due to a larger market footprint but if you like uncharted (and let me tell you it's the best series i've played period.) then don't be put off buying 2 preowned consoles from ebay rather than 1 or the other new.
