Multiplayer lag issues
I have returned to LFS after a break and I cannot play multiplayer due to lag issues which result in being kicked or lock up.

With Shift f8 i see TCP ER -300 issues every few seconds.

I have tried everything including the things suggested in these forums but with no luck.

Can anyone help please.

Hi

What's the ping to the server(s) that you connect to? And what do you mean by "result in being locked up?"

What type of connection are you using? Dial up - or broadband? Are you using wi-fi or tethering via phone etc.?

If possible, run tests from both www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net and post the results here. Might be able to see if this is mainly down to internet connectivity issues... When you get the pingtest results - have a look here: http://www.pingtest.net/learn.php

BB connection directly wired not wireless Netgear DNF2200 router. Speed test below.

Note used to play this easily on a much slower link, have since moved house.
The speed is ok (slow, but playable) - the very high jitter (40 ms) might be the cause.

I would expect the line quality rating to be much lesser due to the jitter value. Sorry, I'm out of ideas - hopefully someone else would have better advice/help.

What do you mean by "lock up"?
Quote from Suvv :I cannot play multiplayer due to lag issues which result in being kicked or lock up.

PS: Are you having issues on most servers?
i.e. you might be able to play perfectly well on UK-hosted servers whilst not being able to play at all in GER/NL/FR hosted servers...

Anyway, good luck in sorting it out.

Thanks for looking.

Lock up is due to lag building up until it is many seconds and the game is hanging, have to then quit.

All mp servers are affected.

Anyone any ideas?
Download TCP optimizer ( Freeware ), execute the program, Set the slider to your connection speed, hit "Apply changes" leave it till finish ( Some secconds ) reboot pc and try again
