Hope it doesn't end on an oval, but looks good otherwise.
Quote from JackDaMaster :nah it'll be like last year except with a reversed grid (probably) rather than that ****ing draw thing they did last year

They might want to revise their points system then, because with the current one I wouldn't be surprised to see many people sandbagging at the back in race 1 - especially with the large grids we will have.

Quote :Pretty good calender though, race in china probably wont happen and there isnt enough ovals but considering that the new car is total dog shit on ovals it might be for the best this year

Milwaukee and Loudon scrapped, still no Road America, only 14 to 16 rounds=Meh(although none of them surprising).

Hope China goes ahead, since Baltimore looks in real danger. If the two get scrapped and no replacement for Vegas is found, we end up with 13 rounds only.
Have I missed something or is Penske not entering based on that list a few posts back?
Quote from DieKolkrabe :Have I missed something or is Penske not entering based on that list a few posts back?

They are. Bottom of the Chevy teams list. Same drivers as 2011.
Wooo! I'm going to Belle Isle GP this year

My Christmas present from my dad was 2 tickets right on pit straight (one for him, one for me), and 2 day paddock passes.

Means I will also see the Grand-Am, World Challenge, and Indy Lights races while I'm there. Ballin'.
Kentucky being knocked off the schedule was for the better due to speeds, but I was kind of looking to go back there this year again, but this time go Friday night for the Truck Series race, and then see the Indy Car races the following day like we did last year, but I guess I can just head home in the morning on Sundy now

meh kentucky was clearly the 'safest' 1.5 miler because of its relative flatness and the bumps. Would rather it was on the schedule than texas
Quote from https://www.facebook.com/indycar :INDYCAR will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 4 (tomorrow) to announce our new race director!

well can't get worse
We've known it's Beau Barfield from ALMS for ages, RLM told us
Quote from boothy :We've known it's Beau Barfield from ALMS for ages, RLM told us

damn, missed that big time
Quote from boothy :We've known it's Beau Barfield from ALMS for ages, RLM told us

Great do I have to watch the ALMS go down the pan AND Indycar die off now?

Sooner Beaux sticks to what he's great at, the better, he's great at sportscar racing but IMO he's not cut out for open wheel racing

I agree. Not only are they going to Texas, they are going to Texas and they are having a double header

His roots are in open wheel, so I'm not sure where you're getting this idea from. ALMS is a relatively new, late-career thing for him.
I thought he'd been in ALMS for longer than he had, wasn't aware he was Champ Car and FF2000 at all
Tagliani signed for a full-time season with BHA.
Quote from Yuri Laszlo :Tagliani signed for a full-time season with BHA.

A bit like the Pagenaud/SSM thing, it's been an almost-done deal for ages, but always good to see it officialised of course.

Miller also reports that Wilson is heading back to Coyne, which is some kind of surprise move! Most people expected him to be back at DRR. Hope he can bring Dale back to victory lane!

Dunno where this leaves SeaBass, probably no IndyCar for 2012, what a crying shame But then you can't really turn your back to Peugeot just for a low-tier IndyCar drive, can you?
Quote from GreyBull [CHA] :WTF? Bourdais and Legge teaming-up at Dragon Racing. Didn't see that one coming

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com ... o-car-dragon-racing-team/

I doubted Dragon Racing would set up a 1 car full time programm after the split from de Ferran and the obvious financial problems, but now a two car line-up... totally unexpected.

26.08.2012 - Infineon Raceway and 15.09.2012 - Fontana* could be without Sebas, because of his WEC commitment with Peugeot.
good to hear that pippa mann's finally been given the all clear to drive again, don't know if she will or should get an indy drive but always nice to hear of someone recovering from injury
Quote from tinvek :good to hear that pippa mann's finally been given the all clear to drive again, don't know if she will or should get an indy drive but always nice to hear of someone recovering from injury

In this interview(quite an interresting read overall), she says she needs to find $4M for a full time ride. And she sounds quite optimistic about it.

Now, Pippa could be put in difficulty by the fact that TrueCar's backing has (either partly or totally) gone to Katherine Legge, while she used to be linked to it.

Kat's backing is said to be quite huge overall. Probably one of the reason why Dragon managed to come up with that surprise 2 cars program.

Completely unrelated, but some other great news for the series. Curt Cavin says here that we will have a race at Milwaukee next year. It's been a persistant rumour over the last few days/weeks, and it looks like it will happen eventually. Cavin isn't the kind of guy to pass rumours for news.

So Jay Penske got a legge over a mann?
im Assuming Bourdais has no sponser money that why hes taken the dragon ride.

Even though its seriously underfunded(atleast compared to the other teams) i still think he will get in the top 10 by season end, hes perfromance in the dale coyne on the road courses was pretty much the best of the non penske/ganassi considering dale coyne is a back marker team its quite impressive.

If he can get a good season i think a Penske ride might be on the cards.
Quote from Yuri Laszlo :So Jay Penske got a legge over a mann?

Is there a pun of some sort involved in this post?

I'd take Legge over Mann any day. Pippa has never shown anything special on road courses. She hasn't driven on them at all since Lights in 2010. With a 70% road schedule she will struggle a lot.

Kat might be a bit rusty with those years spent in DTM, but she's a (road course) winner in Atlantics, and has 2 seasons of experience with those badass ChampCars.

Quote from Mustafur :im Assuming Bourdais has no sponser money that why hes taken the dragon ride.

Yep. Also why he was stuck at Coyne last year.

He said on interview that a Coyne drive was still in the books, but he eventually got frustrated with Dale taking (as ever) his time with the negotiations. Hence why he landed at Dragon for 2012.

Quote from Mustafur :If he can get a good season i think a Penske ride might be on the cards.

Very good point there. Briscoe and Castroneves have been rather disappointing lately, and the Captian's patience has its limits.

Just imagine. Power and Bourdais teamming-up at Penske. :wow:
