well.. all the fronts are skinable

eric just has to remove the whole license plate on the fronts; then just weld the rear license plate to the rears

I run the plate SH 53 SSR (my initials, race number, and team prefix). I'd like for the rear side window to show "S Hopkinson", but it would look dumb on the plate. Separate and optionalise!

That shows the drivers LFS name, not their display name. Taking note of two names for everyone is too much for my little brain .
then you hit... N?

i still suggest ctrl shift though; anyone can change their screen name to whatever they like

but 3 times? ... Surely a press & hold would be better.

For a wrecker yes, but for chat after race or just to know who that quick guy was, no... Because you wont see that name when you see them next.
Quote from ajp71 :A lot of people don't remove there number plates in club racing in road legal championships as it doesn't really make a difference for track days you'd have to be mad to take your number plates off then put them back on to drive home at the end

Sometimes it invalidates warranties, so that is a reason why it is done.

EDIT: I read this in 10/10, but can't find it.
Agreed with the point that there wouldnt be an official licence plate on race cars, but i'd rather something better was done with them than just removing them from those cars.

Its been said a billion times before, but i'll say it again.... we need pre-set areas on the car model (& skin) which holds specific decal strips.
If you had a car skin and then a personalised decal skin then you'd be able to modify things like the plates to have those Racing style plates shown on the Merc DTM cars, you could still go with a text plate like now, or opt to display an 'decal' or skin.

I really think we need 2 tier skins in LFS, if you think about all the LFS teams, if each driver has his/her own personalised skin thats about 100k per car, but if instead the whole team had there own paintjob (as in real life) however you had a 'decal sheet' which is overlayed on various models, then you'd knock chunks out of the skins transfers, the amount of skins stored in your SkinsX folder and on LFSWorld etc.

If you had mixed sized banners, like 300x100, 200x50 etc like website banners which were overlayed on skins (PNG's ?) which specifically hold a racing number decal which could include number, driver name, national flag
and team/event/LFS sponsors etc
GTR cars could use the larger ones because those cars have larger surface area, cars like the MRT would just have smaller ones due to limited spaces, but ultimately you'd still have your full race skin on a seperate file like XFR_[teamname].jpg.

I know thats going off-topic, but adding this would make so much sense i just dont see why it wasnt done years ago! Theres numerous advantages to this, lower filesizes for racers & LFSWorld, less skinning for skinners (specifically the poor folks doing them for teams, making X number of skins which are 99% identical per car).

Sounds like quite an up-heaval for LFSW, but in the long run for skinners and for the ammount of data transferred and stored at LFSW it sounds quite a good idea.

The only downside is the added slight complexity.

Maybe this suggestion deserves a seperate thread Paul?
No, the plates should stay

For players who disabled the automatic skin download option (like me) the plates are helpful to identify the other players in a race
