The online racing simulator

Is there any way someone could send me a....... umm...... "Invitation" for a slot? And, will this "invitation" be small enough to be attatched to one email?
The invitation contains a registration code which is tied to an individual and which can be used to register the game only once. Since you need to register online in order to play, need to login every time the game launches and the content is managed and distributed online, I'm pretty sure the developer would be able to detect duplicate registration codes.
Looks good, specially as its a pre alpha. Ill definatly keep an eye on it
SHame couldnt get my name down or anything, oh well. I hope wont be too long before an alpha demo *heres hopin*
Diamond in the rough?
Considering how early a release it is I'm pretty impressed.

Graphics are in the pre-shader stage so it's not time to judge those yet. The sounds are excellent, with a really good way of implementing them. The physics look like they have real potential, although it's a bit tricky to tell as collisions aren't implemented yet.

The thing I liked the most was the force feedback, it seems like a really sensible way of going about it, just calculate the force on the steering column and transfer it to the wheel (using a DFP till the new model comes out). I think more sims should look at this instead of trying to guess what to send to the wheel to simulate things that aren't usually felt in the steering wheel.

It'll definitely be one to watch, as the most unique thing about it is the ability to make cars from a collective database of parts. If the editors good and works well with the 3d modelling programs I think there'll be a ton of content developed for it.

To those that missed getting a slot, don't sweat it too much, it's VERY early and was more just to test the bit torrent client, not really racable yet.
i dunno about calling it not raceable as longas both drivers are honest you can have a race

Isn't it sampled sound system? Sounded like it from the vid. Or then half-sampled/generated (like RBR afaik).
I didn't like it

The game or the video. Whichever you mean how can you say you dont like it when its a pre alpha so theres obviuosly ALOT of work going to be done to the game etc.

Well, that's insightfull....
Your reply would be less irrelevant if you told what you don't like and why
Quote from Rob76 :Are the track screenshots on their website of LimeRock Park?

If it's not Lime Rock Park, then it's an incredibly similar fictional track done for licensing issues. The "lr" in the image file names is also pretty suggestive.
That game sucks!

But only because I'm not one of the 400 beta testers
thx for another intelligent post

yes i know it's Pre alpha, ive played it before it got alpha tested by public.
Im sure Beta or v1 will be alot better, Just dont cry about it cause i said i didn't like it.
so you realise that your statement makes no sense to say that you dont like a game that isnt even out yet? and wasnt anywhere near finnish when you supposedly played it?

Maybe you should read more offten?

i said i dont like the Pre alpha but im sure it be much better once done.. jezzz
thats not what u said originally i'll drop it
Im still stoned so :gt:

anyways back to topic

AFAIK, that's exactly how LFS simulates force feedback, and yes, it's the most sensible and best
Don't forget that current FF wheels are totally incapable of delivering the force and most of all SPEED of real cars.. A current DFP won't manage one turn per second, in fact its closer to 2 seconds per wheel turn, where in real life it can go up to 3 or 4 revolutions per second just by the suspension geometry and tyre alligning forces..

Only when a really good FF wheel comes can you truly judge FF imo.. Now you might like one sim's FF more than the other but the chances of this having anything to do with the quality of the sim are slim..
many games dont feel anywhere near as good as lfs... like simbing games and all those games that run on a similar engine to gtr.

the only games with ffb i can stomache are lfs, rbr, and DR...

when the car spins out in nkpro and gtr/gtl/rfactor... my steering wheel doesnt try to correct itself like irl. it just sorta sits there limp. like those games only simulate bumps.
i quite agree with u gabkicks about the FF in most games but after about 3 hours of screwing with the FF in the GTL demo i got it quite corect but still didnt quite feel like a real car

allso looks like the game could be quite good if the do end up making the hole game online based i dont think ill buy it cause i like to play LFS offline some times
one of things that put me off trying other driving sims (besides LFS fan boys) is the graphics, a lot of them look very "grainy". This, however, seems to be nice and clean graphicaly, like LFS. Will be looking forward to a demo of this.
Ok, just had my first race and here are my quick impressions:

1. Physics, controls, feeling, car setups
The driving feeling reminds me a lot from NKP, it's pretty good and the steering wheel feels somewhat connected to the wheels. But however, I find it very difficult to feel when the car is at its limits of grip. Understeer feels rather odd too. There isn't many controls to set up: steering, brake/gas, clutch, handbrake, gears, look left/right. Car setups seem to be very detailed. There's no sliders, only slots with numbers for you to change at the moment, but there is a whole lot to tweak!

2. Graphics & sounds
Very, very, very early in development and that's an understatement. I'm sure this department will be improved tons in the future so I'm not even going to say anything about them at this point. I had some issues with the sounds tho, first time I was driving I thought "god, these sounds are horrid" but eventually, the sounds got a lot better quality-wise while I was driving, and then they got worse again. I'll have to look in to this and see what's causing these sound quality issues ingame. Once the sounds were all playing, it did sound pretty nice actually.

3. Multiplayer, netcode, final words
I found my first race quite fun, even tho I spun out at like T3 in first lap and two other fellow racers zoomed past me with more experience. :P But yeah, the netcode does feel very solid and lag-free. Can't wait to try full grid racing on this puppy. Needless to say, I have VERY high expectations to this sim. Even now, this is more enjoyable to me than NKP because I can actually race against other living people online!
