PC performance Problem (few games)
Hi all. i'll start off by saying LFS runs fine

OK so i want to run GTA IV at full graphics but it's running sluggish & slow, here are my PC Specs

Windows 7 Home Premium
Service pack 1

AMD FX - 4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
8.00 GB Ram
64-bit operating system

i went on Can you run it & my PC blow the recommended requirements outta the water, so why oh why is it running slow & sluggish.

COD:MW3 runs fine & a few others but gta nope.....well not at full specs

Any help would be most heplfull
What graphics card have you got?
GTA IV is so crap (optimised badly I mean) that even the most badass PCs struggle running it at decent FPS.
I have a GTX 580 and it can't run anywhere near maximum details on GTA IV, the game is a very poor console port. HD6450 is also a _very_ slow OEM card, so you're out of luck with that.
I've experienced that before: gta 4 ran just fine on my nVidia 9800GT, but my friend got a new pc (more powerful on every aspect than mine) and it was pretty unplayable on his machine. Since we also didn't bother to investigate further i can't be much help here, could be somehow AMD video card related i suspect.

Well my pc can handle the likes of COD:MW3 just fine

This is the problem.

No matter how expensive your ferrari is, you won't get the best performance if it has a 50cc engine .
Why do you have 8GB ram... I'd understand if u were a photoshop geek, but with Radeon 6450 you obviously aren't. Your card's a hell of a slow GPU for anything gaming related. MW3 runs fine because it's 5 or 6 years old engine which is outdated since it was released.

I have GTX470, a two year old GPU and I already thought I can play GTA4 maxed out at my time, but man, this game is so so bad console port... It feels like even if you had GTX680 you won't be able to run it maxed out.
Thanks for all your replies. i guess i'll have to upgrade my graphics card
Do all the patches for GTA:IV.. I can run it in 1080p all maxed out, max draw distance, cars etc and still have it locked at 60fps. sure it dips down now and then but what game doesn't? And especially that GTA:IV was a disaster from the very beginning on PC.
Before I did all the patches, My rig struggled to run it even at 1024x768 on low!!

My Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 4GHz
Asus GeForce 560Ti 1GB @ 1GHz Core, 2.2GHz(4.4GHz GDDR5 effective) Memory.
8GB 1600MHz Vengeance RAM

Recommended HD3870 GPU (4,5 years old card at that) is 3 times faster than yours.

lmao, so you actually need only 6 cores to run it maxed out? How sweet. I only have 4, damn.
