They get uploaded by the skin maker/owner in LFS-World.

do you mean how do they make them or how do they use them?

He is asking about technique of downloading skins. What ports/protocols are used to download skins from master server to be exact....

He asked how LFS gets the skins, not how people make them. As Zeug said, they are uploaded to one's own slots in lfs world. Every S2 licenced member gets 31(?) slots to upload their own skins, so that others can see them when racing online.

Actually, I've got a little skin question of my own.. Why does LFSW store the 1024 skins and 512 helmets if they can not be downloaded in game? That just effectively doubles (or triples?) the space taken up on the server does it not?

^^ You can download all your skins in a zip at 1024 x 1024 size, it's useful for when you end up loosing the originals, not that anyone would be that disorganised

Really? that was the only reason I could think of but I don't ever recall seeing such a feature on LFSW. Good idea I spose. God knows at some point I'll loose it all! LOL

It downloads them using http like your web browser. But I guess the packet (http request) that LFS sends is marked as LFS instead of IE or FireFox or whatever. And your firewall decides it's not a valid protocol.

That's just my guess as I am not an expert on such things.
