Ron Dennis said from the telemetry kimi did slow down. But watch the on board shot from kimis car barrichello cuts in front of kimi n then villeneuve goes roundout side so kimi was boxed in. There has to be give and take thourgh the first few turns to avoid accidents and it seems to me montoya was just gonna go through whatever kind of attitude where kimi was being careful.
Well truely, only the racers really know whos fault it is. Sometimes its not anyones fault.. but in this case it was jpms fault. But what hes saying could be completely true...(about heidfeld)
Becky, was Button ever a squeezy driver? mabye you can help us with this
Oh, Montoya is a good target for bashing. I see, many watch racing like TV series, discuss the relationships, credit all the results to the drivers' characters. There must be a bad guy. Since most of you admit you considered him "an idiot" long ago, you must have been watching very selectively: like if Kimi's and Ralf's cars broke down on their own, but Montoya broke all the cars himself, and so on.
I saw this morning on spanish TV program that maybe Montoya leaves McLaren this year, they said McLaren is not happy with him, Pedro Martinez de la Rosa will go in his place...
I guess you should check the vids again. There was Button next to Kimi and Barichello in front of him. It was not the exit of the corner, it was the entrance to apex. Because there were two cars next to him (Heidfeld outside Button), Kimi had no chance to run a quick line, had to correct his speed and therefore slowing rightly down. While you may be right that in certain situations (Istanbul 2005, Montoya pulling right in front of Monteiro in a braking zone, taking downforce from Monteiro) the car behind may not be at fault, in a situation at the start where you can see that a three wide is going on, you need to be extra careful as the driver behind. Rule of thumb: when in doubt, don't. JPM didnt do that, so he is to blame and not Kimi.
Same as i thought last night when reading all this... would be ammusing tho
One of the worst things he could have done is to take out his team mate right now... haha
So did Ron Dennis (during a mid-race interview), apparently Montoya was eyes right as Kimi braked because Button was coming in on him, Juan therefor didnt see Kimi braking early and quite hard (I dont know why - but he did do it - Ron confirmed it on the telemetry).
The accident was the fault of Montoya, but I dont think it was a serious driver error.
90% of information you hear in a racing paddock is bullshit. When you're interviewing a team manager after his driver has just taken out his team mate you'll hear 99.9% bullshit.
Some examples from McLaren.com
How often do you hear this?
Slightly countering Kimi's philosophy
From the few (bad) TV angles I'd say that blaming Heidfeld is ridiculous.
I dont think Ron Dennis was refuting whose fault it was, he just explained why Montoya didn't react to Raikonnen braking. It was still JPM's fault sure, but Ron cleared up why he didn't seem to react - he was eyes right.
It's hard to profile a driver who's several places behind you!
In this case the team boss being interviewed didn't try and offer an explination as to whose (other team) fault it was, instead he was more concerned with trying to offer an explination to make the situation less embarassing for McLaren I still think most of what he said was probably BS.
Heaven forbid Monty would actually say "yeah, I messed up. Sorry everyone!". Of course Kimi lifted and of course it's not the job of the following driver to avoid slamming into someone's gearbox. Monty's got some skills, but they show themselves so rarely I'm wondering if he's worth the cash Ron's throwing at him...
The thing that craps me off about this incident is that, once again, Webber gets taken out due to someone else's f--k up. But then if he actually survived, the ol' Cossie probably would have sh@ itself when he was in a points position. *sigh* Such is life I guess
The problem there is his wife was putting the squeeze on him and the camera man braked early - Montoya was eyes right at the time and didnt react to the camera mans sudden move.
His wife putting a squeeze on him? It looked more like Monty was in a rush and not looking where he was going. But that's not the case here, the case is Monty acting like a hotheaded 12 year old after getting hit by the camera blaming everything on the cameramans fault even tho he didn't look where he was going. That's pretty much how he acts in every race, make a mistake, blame everyone else for it.
