Thor IS James Hunt!

They've got the look down. Hopefully it's a good movie, too.
If there's ever a point where they're racing, and he squints his eyes, and then the camera cuts to his foot well to show him pushing the accelerator further I'm going to scream and walk out.

Hahaha.

You know that's going to happen three or four times.
"Wait! I've got an idea how to beat him! I'll go a bit faster than I'm already going!"
I don't know, with the amount of work that appears to be going into this it would be a shame if it didn't have a Grand Prix level of realism.

I'm totally with you. Let's scream together.
Don't forget grabbing another gear!

Often done when on a long straight at full pelt and they shift and the engine then revs at a higher engine note...........

Although I'll doubt this will be the case as mentioned, Ron Howard is a decent director and it looks pretty realistic so hopefully there be no 'Tokyo Drifto' shenanigans.
Well it's gonna have dubbed sound, and that on it's own already pisses me off, dubbed sound kills motorsport films.

Hopefully it has better narrative sense than Grand Prix, though.

At least it's not like Japanese motorsport films, where they not only dub the sound, but speed everything up by about 3 times to point where it's comical. I remeber watching one a while ago (I forget what it was called) and the racing may as well have had 'Yakkety Sax' over the top.

You are maybe talking a bout Thunderbolt with Jackie Chan?

have you seen the live acion initial d movie?
Quote from rockclan :You are maybe talking a bout Thunderbolt with Jackie Chan?

I think it may have had Jackie Chan in it, yes.

Your aware virtually all films are dubbed all the time anyway, yes? Film sets are far far too loud to get away with the "raw audio"...

Yes, all films are dubbed, but my point is, motorsport needn't be dubbed as raw engine sounds are loud enough anyway...

Well, yes, I usually sleep through everything that isn't racing.
This is going to be so shit...
Why come on now, i find it very promising..
There were a lot of "promising" movies with racing in mind, but they ended up being the previously mentioned cheesy nerdy shit that makes real motorsport fans cringe at said movies' fakeness.
I really hope this movie is a different matter, though. (as long as it ends up not being worse, and the "staredown" between lauda and hunt doesn't look promising at all)
Lauda's crash and recovery makes one good story line, and so do Hunt's "interresting" way of life, but I'm affraid it leaves a certain void in the scenario.

I just hope they won't fill that void by enhancing a special "rivalry" aspect that just wasn't there. Correct me if I'm wrong(and I could well be wrong, I wasn't born yet back then), but Hunt and Lauda weren't bitter enemies. Both had very different styles, and both were very emblematic personalities in the F1 paddock, but that's about all. Theye never had any controversial incidents between each other, and they didn't even get to fight against each other on the long term - 1976 was the only year thet went head-to-head for the F1 championship.

Very far from the Prost vs Senna, Piquet vs Mansell, or even the Schumacher vs Hill rivalries, for example.

That said, making films out of real historic events can be pretty hard to do, if you wish to remain accurate. This is why I'm surprised they didn't just decide to just go the easy way and stick with a fictionnal scenario, still based on the mid-1970s era. But anyway, best of luck to them.
Sounds quite good really, a type of racing/porno with extra drugs. It's definately got promise on that alone.

"James Hunt was not known for behaving appropriately. But never was he more outrageous than in the last two weeks of October 1976, when he was in Tokyo battling Niki Lauda for the title of Formula One world motor racing champion.

His preparations were unconventional, to say the least. He had spent the two weeks leading up to the race on a round-the-clock alcohol, cannabis and cocaine binge with his friend Barry Sheene, who was world motorcycle champion that year.

While Jackie Stewart famously abstained from sex a week before a motor race, Hunt would often have sex minutes before climbing into the cockpit."

Everyone knows you have to downshift to accelerate faster.

Or at least they should...
