I am not sure if I am completely updated on the matter, but either way: If someone out of their own good-will wants to contribute with more people in this game, then I am very much positive to it. If it's competitions, rewards or other random situations is not important, as long as it's given away in good faith with no negative things attached to it.

Some contributions are more visible than others.
License giveaways are very visible, server admins who pay to keep the multiplayer side alive and people giving up their own free time to organise events are probably less visible, but equally important.

We actually agree on something

Personally I don't like the freebie attitude that we seem to get from demo racers these days exactly because of giveaways like this, LFS is not very expensive as it is and the demo side is practically unlimited (aside from the content of course). Yes it's nice that you guys feel generous but you can clearly see the influx of cheap demo racers expecting free licenses every time we have giveaways like these and I'm not sure if thats a good thing.

When you convert the price to USD ($40), it's actually QUITE expensive for as old as is it. Now, if S3 was out, would be a different story, but 5 yrs of S2 should call for a little bit ($30?-$25?) of a price reduction. Not to mention some of these demo racers are children with no access to credit cards to purchase a license.

I 100% agree with you. I think people giving S2 licenses away should make some kind of competition, make the license very difficult to get. This would make nice guys do their best, and lazy dudes who just want free license go away.

Agreed on this. There's way too much begging and spamming for free licenses as a result of easy freebies going on now. If a demo racer wants a free license, I think he/she should have contributed to the community, or be required win a competition of some sort.

Well, my s2 was a gift from a contest on the forum, so i dont see anything wrong with that

almost 8 years of LFS and still i play 2-3 hours or more EACH day, i never got bored of lfs and i love it.

threads like this makes me feel like the intention behind giving those freebies is attention

The trolling part is worth it to me.
The forums can get quite boring.

Make it a competition and it's great for the community. Don't make it a competition and it may or may not be just a waste of money.

Competitions at the very least will increase community activity, and those who fail to win might buy it on their own.
