Has it occured to you that the autocross arena and the blackwood carpark are in fact treated as a short by very wide length of track? Obviously the engine can cope with A-B routes (i.e. not complete circuits), but so far no multiple routes. Also, Scawen (the guy who makes it, so he kind of knows) has confirmed that currently LFS cannot do multiple routes (other than pitlanes).
Thus I think it is you who have missed my point, whilst I've read your point hundreds of times before.
Once again: I don't wanna race with multiple routes ! I just wanna all part of track to be connected so it became somekind of open area where I can go whatever I want to !! Besides, even if I'd like to race, in edit mode I have start line and three checkpoint lines which I can put whatever I want and it will create a circuit. And don't worry about AI's, I don't wanna see any AI's on it.
Sorry for my english misundertanding. Ok, this is multiple routes but this is all about ! And no race on it, everybody will start from pit, untill you put yourself start line and checkpoint lines etc so it become a circuit - the same like in autocross area - I really would like to see something like that.
EDIT: ... like it was in NFSU 2. You can drive all aroud city but when you race it's only small part of city limited by barriers...
An open area, where you are free to choose which route you take around the track, either for racing, cruising, cops and robbers etc is multiple routes. IT IS NOT SUPPORTED IN LFS.
Is that clear enough, or shall I post the same thing again tomorrow? Perhaps we can take it in turns?
Maybe because it just hasn't been implemented yet? It's not even sure if it ever will be.
There are just far more important things to be done then to create some sort of city cruising mode. It's a racing simulator after all.
It takes time to develop this game, and it's three people making it.
This is Improvement Suggestions topic so I’ve made a suggestion which I really would like to see in LFS someday in the future…. I realize that there’s more important things to do and some people has better ideas than I, so… Thanks for your help. Sorry for bad attitude, didn’t mean to. Please no offence.
I understand you very good. But isn't that mean that even more people think that it could be nice to have this in LFS ? Ok, sorry.... no more, let's close this topic.
i think it s bullsh. what do u mean with "its not supported" (i know there were some threads about it). the only thing that cannot be supported in multiple routes could be the AI, Maps, and maybe hotlaps... there is nothing to support if u add a segment of 3D track for cruising... the 2nd thing that is possible is that the graphics engine wouldn t be able to load the track on fly, and it would be to big to load it whole at once... but don't tell him IT'S NOT SUPPORTED, because thats simply "blebleble i have no idea about it"- there is nothing to support for cruising! should i repeat it tommorow?
no, the engine renders the stuff infront and behind you, thus multiple routes confuse it, but of course, im only going by what Scawen said, and you must know much more about LFS than him!
i hope to don't feed the fire... ( ) but, i had developed 3D demos (OpneGL, not DirectX btw) and that thing of front and rear rendering seem quite bizarre because the rendering is a task of directx/opengl not a developer task...unless the developer implementes his own software renderer...but we know lfs uses directx, so...
moreover, i think scawen's words were misleading about that, if we actually read some scawen's quotes reported in this thread also, we can see that the problem of paths is for the "wrong way" detection, AIs and maybe something else, but it cannot be graphics and also scawen said that it is possible if it make it run like an "autocross mode" were paths are ignored and that means, no wrong way and no AI...thus lfs is ready for "free run mode" and imo it would add another dimension to lfs, because it will allow new possibilities with "shift+u" building and thus more variety
for timing, i can figure LFS would have a problem; that way all the autocross editor would have to do is just be able to draw a line out as to what path you have to take; but i dont see why LFS "cant handle" an open course... we can drive off the tracks can we not?
also, LFS loads the entire map, and then divides it into which track your going to race, its not like you can't see everything else on a map; so .. its obviously that LFS can handle an open map course, it would just have a slight problem which could be easily be fixed by being able to draw a line as to which roads you are going to take if your going to make a race layout
Edit: we dont have that problem anymore with the marshall system !
sooooo... sounds like we actually might get open tracks
