Yeah how did it get it Breizh, explain that. (And it's not supposedly, maybe refresh your s2/s1 serverlist a bit more often. Maybe you detect a pattern).
All I am going to say is, the last time we had a reasonable and nice discussion about the dev progress. We got a few test patches and some responses. If we can keep the discussion subtle and interesting, maybe just maybe, a wild developer will appear.
I also wonder, why no Developer is writing here? Well, It's a talk about LFS - and their development.
How the most already said here, LFS is going to die fastly now. I think the Dev's gave up - It seems like that.
What stinks here is the arrogance with which you want new free updates.
Obviously you can voice your oppinion, but at the end of the day you paid for a full product and its up to the devs to decide where they are going with lfs.
You sure you can ask, but all i see is whining and demanding new stuff.
Yes. Still no reply with correct information about the development, only Eric with his "I work like I want, I'm my own boss, bla bla" attitude. Totally works. No wonder people are inpatient.
I don't get why can't he just... let's say post a pic of his current task he's developing (just like Scawen did with the tyre model). The community would surely settle down and stop trolling around.
In my opinion the problem is not the slowness of the development, but the lack of information.
'Supposedly' meaning it's outside the scope of what I'm arguing.
Whatever drew players in the first place will draw players again when the new physics are done; more or less. Or maybe the physics never get done and Scavier decide that LFS isn't worth continuing with subpar physics. It's their game.
You can only have the same 'conversation' so many times over before it's undeniably a waste of time.
There is no timeframe given for the above "clause"
Ya know, when I get superiors at work giving me that attitude, my attitude is even less enthusiastic about getting something done because they insist. Easy demonstration of why Scavier went "off the grid" from conventional "cubicle" game development scheme.
I admit I really don't like not having anything in so long, and can't really fathom a defense for Eric not having any work to even just show, for so long, but... I like even less pretending he and they "owe" me anything. Kinda like what Voltaire said about something else - something like "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
Ok, guess I actually have to take some time writing an reply, since you moderators or developers are too busy deleting posts rather than having an discussion.
So, first thing first, I play the game from time to time, and I enjoy it in very small doses. It's beyound old now so playing the same tracks like I have done the 5 last years ain't that much more fun, but again - I play from time to time.
(this rules out the part where people will scream at me "stfu and play the game before complaining".
But, what really is amusing, sad, or whatever suitable nice or bad word for this, it's by far, too late. People are tired and sick of the whole Scirocco and Rockingham. Even if you do release it it's like 3 years too late, the hype for them has blown away and the only ones left are the misserable ****s like me and the fanboys.
I think what has happend is that Scawen and CO completely misunderstood the community and bascially screwed us (and themself) over. Most parts of the comminty is enjoying the physics like they are now. While we ofc. want them better, it's just not what I and many other focus on - they are good enough! But instead Scawen goes on a ego-trip and blindly belives that physics alone is going to save this game. It's a nice though, and I guess it would keep some of the comminity active, but the mayority thinks the physics are O.K but wants to test them out on new tracks and with new cars.
But that won't happend, and maybe never happend. And the strategy to completely leave the community out in the dark because you canot manage to filter out the trolls from your fans - it's beyound retarded.
You let the trolls win, those people that only complains about anything and everything. Us others that from time to time raises the question marks and tries to ask objective questions - we are screwed over since you won't reply to us. You are affraight that it will turn out in a troll discussion and only bad things will come out from that..
But guess what - it's a hell of a lot better than nothing at all, leaving the community that helped you make this hit, out in the dark. The faithfull users that does not complain on anything you do, and which in many situations back you up when the rest of the world tells we're retard for playing a 10 year old game - you completely spit in their faces and crawled back under a rock. It feels like the touch you had with the comminity is long lost, you simply, don't care about us anymore.
And while reading this post a second time before posting this, I see that it's turned out shit. I let the emotions run and whent full rage (insert never go full retard joke here), simply because I am passionated about this, as SO MANY OTHERS on this forum.
I hope this sinks into your skulls some day, that when you look further ahead / back / through the whining and whiners, there are a lot of nice and usefull members that you have let down by running a ego trip and not listening to the little community.
Edit: And "I got what I payed for" statement is 4 years too late. The fuss is not about money, and why everyone takes up that damn statement each time is beyound me. Hell, give me a track and I pay 24 bucks for that - as most of the other people too. The money is NOT the issue, so stop using that as an argument!
@tve - " don't care about us anymore." If that were true he wouldn't had been (grammar?) working on the tire physics all these years. All we can do is keep holding on, imho.
While I somehow agree that working on it shows that he stills care, I at same time disagrees. Without the community LFS is nothing. Ofc Scawen can make a game he and his kids will play on a nice saturday evenings, but the goal should be to have a nice, medium-sized community that both presents pros and cons about the game.
What has happend is that not nothing we say actually does change anything, or at least it feels like this. Back in the oooooold days (damn, 03-04 is so long ago ) the communication was better and we felt like our voices was worth something, now all we get is infractions and surprise buttsex by some random moderator or developer.
@cargame - LFS isn't exactly mainstream, and I think that people now and in the future will always find out about LFS in their search for the most realistic racing sim. The current community might die off, but I am sure new blood will flow in (as it still does).
@tve - I feel you, yet I think that what we say here still has an impact - in the recent years a negative one perhaps (I mean the discouraging posts - angry demands and so). Of course I'd like to know more about the work behind the curtains, but sadly it is not possible now, so we wait :P (now that the end of the world has been postponed indefinitely, we can wait some more ^^)
I play Forza. Never felt any interest in consoles, but played it at friend's recently and actually gonna plunk down the couple hundred $$$ just to play this one game. And I'll play LFS again when the physics show up. So YMMV. As in "more or less".
Myself it's the sound alone that got me hooked. That and the eye candy of my all time fav car (a Ferrari, not gonna show up in LFS for a while) rendered in typical car porn style. Thank you Gran Turismo for making this kinda eye candy the golden standard so many years ago.
@cargame - I think the core of the community is very mature and they will still be around when an update comes. Just because most are silent doesn't mean they _completely_ abandoned LFS with passionate hate towards the develop(ment speed)ers.
