Americanized rallycross, what do you think?

I missed 2011 completely but the 2012 looks interesting.
More power than europeean, all tarmac (but with waterspray in some corner), shortcut instead of Joker (but that might be due to possible track layout).

Looks interesting. I was intending to catch it on Memorial Saturday but I didn't have the time to do so.

Looks like a little bit of a demolition derby at times though
Only saw some of the races at the X-Games, and it was very American in that it only focused (=mentioned) the first two drivers. But its definitely a better use for those oval than Nascar

btw, are they really sure that "American" rally cross cars have more power than their european counterparts? Cars here sometimes top 800hp ...

but it lacks dirt. Should hold those races on CORR tracks

I was wrong, they have the same 45mm restrictor and 2058cc with turbo. I do not think you can go higher than aprox 600hp with that, but there migth be some National class permitting unlimited.

I like the rubbing is racing attitude, fighting for position is OK but ramming is not.
btw, its called 'Global Rallycross', and this are the events?

Quote :Charlotte Motor Speedway
Texas Motor Speedway
X Games Los Angeles
New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Las Vegas Motor Speedway

dunno, but I miss the 'global' in here

The organisers once said the justification calling it "Global" is that international drivers are coming into the series to race there, like Marcus Grönholm or 5-time British Rallyecross champion Marcus Dodd.

I just call it American, since they also call the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL champion teams "World Champions", although it is not anymore appropriate in NBA or NHL since there are other strong leagues out there nowadays.

MLB's World Series is about the only thing that I would think to call the "World" anything. Even so it leaves out the Japanese baseball series.

NFL, well, I'd rather just not think about the NFL.

This is no exception. I personally think it is rather stupid. I only call things which are truly global "global" or "world" (IE: Realistic NASCAR's World TBO Championship Series which I direct is in fact a "World" event)
Just like we call our base ball finale the World Series... :P
but quite liked round 1 as I just watched it

Is this worth watching?
Well, basically it's no point for anyone try to race since they have actual real rallycross driver who has succeeded, Grönholm..
What time is round 2 im hoping its aired on speed as im watching ga now while at pocono
Quote from oscarhardwick :Yes because Ken Block crashes.

Fun, but be easy on him, he is out classed at so many levels. It's not very suprising that a shoe salesman who is great at rhythmic gymnastics in a car gets schooled by WRC-, EuropeeanRallyCross- and formula drift- champions. It's like taunting Tony Harding for getting winded in the Stanley Cup final.
lol, and Grönholm takes the win again, as if its just a stroll in the park

scary how Travis dislocated his shoulder, look at his legs when he tries to move the car after the spin, they tremble like crazy

For him it probably is just like a walk in the park

Edit. lol lasek chickened out before teh jump

I'm trying to figure out why he is even driving, he is supposed to be on his skateboard!

That failed jumped looked like a 50-50 bluntside along the barrier to me, he just can't help himself.
I quite enjoy watching it but it doesn't seem very serious. Definitely it's videogame inspired as much as rallycross inspired, but I find it funny that they're told to keep off the grass. I like big jumps too but i'd rather they didn't have to slow down for it. It would be better if it was a smaller jump which they were racing flat out across, side by side.

From what I read they run near 600HP.

A lot of the drivers they have are the top performers in their respective disciplines. In the future maybe they will run them across the pond, but do you guys realize how EXPENSIVE it is to ship stuff across? It's the first year they are running it, give it a chance. Rallycross isn't that big in the USA yet, these races are run as a support series for other bigger events.

Heikkenan short shot the jump in practice yesterday. A broken foot, rib, and internal bleeding with abdomen damage =(
Took ages for anyone to get there :|
