Autocross With Laps
I'm looking to make an FSAE Endurance style track. It's autocross like in that it's made of cones but it's multiple laps.

Is there a way to make an autocross course that you can take for multiple laps and have the times recorded?

Yes. You just need to set checkpoints and a start/finish marker.

I did that but after the first lap it wouldn't trip the lap time when I crossed the finish line.

You must have missed a checkpoint. Try to erase it and replace it somewhere clear from obstacles.
1. When starting, do you cross the finish line before hitting checkpoint 1?
2. On your first lap, are you hitting checkpoint 1 before checkpoint 2?

3. Insure yourself that 2 is after 1 and Before 3 (If used)

5. There isn't 4.

4. When it works, feel good!

What I'm trying to do is be able to set up a circuit so that i can go directly into the next lap like on a road course (that is how the FSAE endurance event works. 10 laps of an autocross style road course).

Is there any way to do that in LFS?

Yes, we understood that and, like I said, you can do it. The questions asked by PMD could answer why you're not being able to do it. Did your AutoX layout/your demo run follow the steps he posted?
I put the start point ahead of the finish point so i dont cross it before checkpoint 1. then the checkpoints are in order. then the finish line. I continued on a second lap and when i crossed the finish line again it did not register the lap time, the clock just keeps running.

On road courses in single player even after you finish the event it will tell you your lap time for each lap after.

I might be wrong here, but I think you need to cross the start/finish line in order to make the laps count. Try moving the starting point before the finish line.
ok I did that. still nothing. maybe it can't be done.
Oh it can definately be done, there are races that run on autox layouts.

Have a look at the attachment to make sure your layout has each item placed correctly... I just did a 3 lap race on that little layout. Notice the checkpoints, they must be placed so you drive "into" the bracket shape.

EDIT: And the start point is irrelevant once you hit checkpoint one, so the start point can actually be off/outside the track.

EDIT: I made a few cone challenge layouts you might be interested in (here's a vid of #5), they are made on existing tracks, not car park or the autocross. http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=60069 They're not as technical as the FSAE layouts but they're a challenge.

mine was set up the same way yours was i only keep getting a lap time for the first lap. is there a setting that needs to be changed? if i try to change the number of laps before i begin the race it wont let me because "autocross has a set number of laps"

Yeah it seems as soon as you add a starter you are no longer able to add laps.

If it is only you driving, what about just having the split count as a "lap". Then you could have 3 laps at least.
You can add laps once you have put down a start point. In the bottom right hand corner, above your "Clear all" button there's a LAPS: button. You can either use that, or manually add laps via /axlaps=X.

How did i miss that!?! that worked. thanks for your help!
I forgot about that one.
